Track "Alive" without the drums?
Hi guys! I'm a long time passionate drummer. One of the songs in my repertoire is "Alive", which I love. It sucks to play along with a track that already has drums. How do I obtain the track without the drums? Thanks in advance!

dumb question: purpose of noise gate pedal
I've read a lot of different reviews and summaries, but I can't get a grasp on what they actually do. everything I've read says they cut down on "unwanted noise" such as feedback. now, what I'm looking for is something that cuts out some of the fuzz while I'm actually playing, not feedback such as in between songs, etc.…

Just bought All My Material...........
For my soundproof music room in my basement. I will have it all delivered on April 8th by Home Depot. I can't wait till I get started. Now I can wail away at all hours of the night and not disturb anyone. I have been researching how to build a proper sound room so I'm hoping that it works as good as I expect.

What are the smaller promoters like in your area?
Are they musicians, as well? Are there many? Do they put gigs on in many venues? Do you as musicians find yourself gigging for a particular promoter or do you like to play where and when you can? I'm just curious, really.

My New "Blackie-ish" Bill Nash Strat!!
Normally I don't like to boast about my gear but the steal I got yesterday was too good not to share. I have always said that I am more of a les paul guy and not much of a strat guy, mainly because I never liked the few strats I owned at one time or another but I went to a friend's vintage guitar store yesterday and came…

Danelectro Pedals
I was looking into pedals and noticed Danelectro has some real inexpensive pedals out there. Are they any good, or are they crap? Kind of hard to get past the goofy food based names too.

Dave Grohl
Last night I saw the Foo Fighters in London, On. at the JLC and they were amazing. Dave Grohl is such an exceptional musician. He was playing a little lead guitar as well. I didn't know he played lead guitar. His voice is awesome and he is a great front man. The Foo Fighters are getting better and better all the time. They…

PJ Inspired music - john biz / Higgins - Vida
Hi guys - I posted this in the Poetry/prose/music & art section as well. Thought you gearheads would also dig bc it was recorded by Steve Albini and there are some really innovative guitar sounds on this record. Aloha - I recently recorded this stuff with Steve Albini. He's the dude who recorded Nirvana's "In Utero" (among…

Need advice on new pickups.
Hi hi! I want to upgrade my epi les paul (don't have the money for a new guitar just yet) and I'd like some advice on what kind of pickups I should be looking at please. I feel kinda swamped with the amount of choice out there. Basic stuff: I definately want to stick with humbuckers. I use this guitar for blues, rock, hard…

Blown speaker in a bass amp
My genius friend decided to blow his black widow speaker in a bass amp he's paying me off for. Now I normally wouldn't be salty about this BUT we're all strapped for cash AND we have our VERY FIRST SHOW coming up in about three weeks. Now the tear goes all the way through and I was wondering if there's any quick fix to…

Fulltone OCD or Tonebone Hot British?
I'm thinking on buying one of these pedals. which one would you all recommend. I'm looking for something that can brightly distorted like AC/DC or heavy like 80s Metallica, but not "digital" sounding. and it would also help if it could be rolled back for a more normal "classic rock" drive since my Tubescreamer just crapped…

Getting punters to quit yakking through your set
It doesn't matter how charismatic, virtuosic or messianic a musician is: there will be gigs where the audience think they're at a chimps' tea party. Now, I know these people paid money to enter, and furthermore think they're so highly evolved that they can talk and listen at the same time, but it can be a pain in the arse…

Tell me what you think...
Ok, so earlier this month, my church had a talent show. So i figured that it would be cool to get some people to back me for a Pearl Jam song i had learned a few months prior (have been playing less than a year.) I performed it and think i did decent on it, but was wondering what you all thought. Would you mind to take the…
