The RMC-2 (http://www.realmccoycustom.com/) would be what I'd recommend. Expensive, but worth it

    Depends on the spend.
A basic Dunlop Cry Baby is great bang for the buck.
My new RMV Picture wah is a bit more expensive, at around $180, but worth every dime. Anything by Teese is very good, and his service is outstanding. I casually posted on TGP that I had loose connection issue, that I had not followed up cos I bought it on holiday in the US, and within 15mins Teese sends me a PM offering to sort it out by mail, with very helpful advice.
I was mightlily impressed with that.
As I've said before, wah is more about technique, than what kind of pedal you have.
Pick something, then practice, practice and practice some more.

+1 Geoffrey Teese makes some of the very best wah's available: click: REAL MCCOY CUSTOM
Scroll down about half way to see PICS of a few pro's that use RMC wahs (the RMC Picture Wah kicks ass).

  • I've had a soft spot for a classic Vox for years, but if I had to be objective, I'd say this is probably the best:

You might be interested in this. While I was chatting to Geoff Teese about my dodgy connection, I asked him why he called the Picture wah that, and he replied wiht this

For years, people aske me to recreate the Clyde McCoy wah. I resisted because I was more into creating my own wah sounds and not doing something that had already been done. However, I finally decided to go ahead and do it.

"I used to handle the vintage wah repairs for Vox/Korg (I'm still the only authorized repair station) and worked on hundreds of old wahs. There was one Clyde McCoy Picture Wah that came in which only needed some of the wiring replaced. Once I had it up and running I was FLOORED by the sound. Simply the best Vox wah I'd heard to date (still is). I always blueprinted every wah that came in. So, when it was time to do a CM sonic repro, I pulled up the files for that one pedal and reproduced it, component by component.

Since the original Vox was a Picture Wah, I figured mine should be called the same thing. And, what is a Picture Wah without a picture? At the last minute before release, I decided to put MY picture on it for a laugh. It sort of stuck..."

So, classic Vox has a few fans it seems

I'm glad that Wilson Effects is getting a fair shot here. His wah's are absolutely amazing. And on ANOTHER positive note, aside from the killer options, and killer sound it gets...

Kevin (Wilson) is a HUUUUUUUUUUGE Pearl Jam fan. I'll probably be meeting up with him at the DC show (he's taking a road trip!)

It's a nice wah, but that video was aseptic/boring (I almost fell asleep).
