Has Gibson ever tried a block tremolo unit?
I was wondering this this morning. I know obviously Bigsby's have been used and Lyres. I wonder if they've ever used a block with springs on any guitars. Les Pauls or the like. I can't recall any at all, though I do wonder what it would be like having say an SG with a tremolo unit.

panhandling?
Live in the DC area and was thinking of panhandling on the mall with a friend playing some PJ/DMB/jack johnson songs. Anyone ever do this before? Really its just always something I've wanted to do because I love playing guitar/singing and its a free audience. Suggestions of songs to play are welcome.

Ukulele pickups?
Would a acoustic guitar pickup work with a uke? I've got a fairly small uke, and am in the process of buying a Seymor Duncan Woody acoustic pickup, but I didn't know if it was too big for my small uke.

First rig
I'm wondering what everyone's FIRST rig was. When I was 15, I got the Fender Squier strat pack. 10 watt Squier amp, Squier stratocaster, and then 4 months later, I got the DS-1 Distortion. I'm happy to say that the strat is still a BIG PART of my current lineup as is the DS-1. Of course I've changed pick preferences but…

clueless, but inspired
I've decided to pick up the guitar again -- after setting it down in those weird years between Spandex, the Scorpions, Run DMC and, finally, that musical movement that seemed to start up yonder in the Pacific Northwest. Well, that guitar (Gibson Explorer, good lord) is gone. So I'm starting from nothing, lo these years…

Learning slide guitar
I've decided I'd like to learn how to play slide guitar. I've been playing off and on for a few years, but I never really stick with it long enough to make significant progress. I know a lot of basic techniques and stuff, but I guess I'm probably still considered a beginner. I saw an instructional book on slide by Warren…

Best way to learn acoustic?
My wife got me an acoustic for christmas last year, and aside from learning Happy Birthday for my daughter and the intro to smoke on the water, I know nothing else. Is the best way to learn to take instruction or can a book and DVD do just as good? Thanks

So what are you currently itching for?
Right now I'm aching for an 08 American Standard Telecaster in natural finish and a small 5w tube amp, like an Epiphone or a Peavey. Also a Tubescreamer would be nice. How about you?

New audio amp...very excited !!
I'm a tad excited today, this arrived in the post http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=360042609178&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=023 Considering that a basic tube audio amp new here is around $2800, and that is 3 watts with a solid state pre-amp only, I'm pretty chuffed I got this for $300 delivered.…

recording options - what to buy?
I have a Zoom MRS-802 I use for recording gigs and solo stuff in my basement, and it is fine...for the most part. Yesterday I was messing around with a new song and ended up butchering it because I kept getting the copy/paste stuff wrong and had to re-do the drum track (which is always a pain to program and not versatile).…

Tuning
I have no idea how to tune my strat. I got into it about four months ago. I was looking to pick up the Fender PT-100. Please send me in the right direction. I've been going on my uneducated ear as to what my guitar should be tuned to.

Woo Hoo! I bought a new amp.
I have a bunch of tube amps (Mesas and Fender), and Line 6 stuff. I like both the amps and the modelers. But Line 6 brought out a new amp that has a power section designed by Bogner and a preamp that is a digital but has tubes in the circuit, sort of like the old ADA MP-1 (I wish I still had mine). I picked up the 2X12…

Delay in Low Light from Benaroya
After Mike's solo, he has that delay and it's very short but sounds very metallic(I don't know how else to describe it). Can this only be achieved with an analog delay? If not, how can I get that short metallic sound?

Beginner Long Road Question (simple)
At the beginning of the long road (and subsequent chords) Ed is holding a D chord. Is he just plucking the 5th and 4th strings in a DDUUDU fashion before playing the chord through? Thanks

Its the basic blues riff. Its the entire song of Manish Boy by Muddy Waters. Anyone here know it? Ba da da da dum, dum dum, dum dum, Ba da da da dum. LOL, Anyone here know what I am talking about?

Springsteen, the guitarist
Mentioning Springsteen in the other thread got me thinking, so I figured I'd start a thread. :D As great as a songwriter, singer, and lyricist Bruce Springsteen is, the one thing that is almost always overlooked is his skills as a guitarist. He's one of those 'idiot-savant' type players like Neil Young and Kurt Cobain,…

Loop machines and the Line6 Pod
Hey all..... What is the best (for the money) looping machine. I was well impressed with Liam Finn's use of it and creativity and would love to use exactly what he had etc...... Also, does the Line6 machine (Pod x3) have that feature?? Matt

what's he doing?
Hi, I'm not a musician or gearhead, but I am curious and hope someone could help me out. In the Immagine in Cornice DVD, what's Ed doing when he checks the 8-track player after sound check? Is it even an 8-track player? (excuse my ignorance! ;) )

Playing Live Again Feels So Good!
Not that anyone gives a shit, but... I go to this bar/restaurant some Tuesday nights for "Blues Night/Open Mic Night." They have a house band that's pretty nasty and they let people sign up and use their instruments. They'll play for you if u want them to, or you can bring a whole band w/ u. I finally mustered up the balls…

Les Paul...Fender Strat....or Fender Tele?
I know it's everyone's personal opinion but I was just curious on which guitar out of the 3 that most people on this forum would choose. I have a Les Paul and I absolutely love it. I will always keep it but I would like a Strat or Tele or both along with another Les Paul one day. Which out of the 3 would everyone choose…

I Am Mine
Just learned it a couple days ago and can't stop playing it. I think it's my favorite PJ song to play to date...and I know a slew of them. Seeing Ed play it solo in San Diego inspired me to learn it...never thought it could sound so good solo/acoustic. I think I'm going to debut it at an open mic night next week!
