recording options - what to buy?

I have a Zoom MRS-802 I use for recording gigs and solo stuff in my basement, and it is fine...for the most part.
Yesterday I was messing around with a new song and ended up butchering it because I kept getting the copy/paste stuff wrong and had to re-do the drum track (which is always a pain to program and not versatile). I finally gave up.
I have a screaming computer that should be able to support most any recording programs. If I want a nice 16+ track recording software suite with a few flashy features but mostly just easy as hell to use, what should I look at? An easily programmable drum module would be key too.
What do you all use? What is great but won't break the bank?
