Pearl Jam Studio Sound Effects

We break down the live sound all the time. What do you know about studio effects used etc. Obviously binaural recording was used for a specific sound... we know they use Blue Mic's sometime, I wonder what cabinet techniques they use, whether they might use ribbons at all etc.
Earlier on there was a lot more compression in the final production and other songs like Breath even seem to have a touch of chorus some of which could be a by product of the recording definately a shimmer. IN any case I thought we needed a thread to discuss studio techniques to get different sounds. Guitars that might not be used live... etc.
Obviously Ed on the ITW soundtrack has a few different instruments. I think I heard a mandolin and a banjo in there.
what do you think?

My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

interesting, I know that some of thier other Favorite engineers happen to have a few Emperical Labs Distressors on hand as well. Those things sound good.

I sure wish I had more on this topic really. I know I've read a few other interviews with Brett before that had stuff but other than that I don't know that much... other than what's seen in Album Covers.

I'm 31 one, and still glare over studio pictures in album artwork.
