My new Taylor 716ce LTD with Imbuia
I am finishing up grad school and as a reward I had promised myself a new guitar upon completion (or close to completion) of my degree. I have one class left this fall. So, I decided to start shopping. Well, for some reason I just fell in love with the look of Imbuia I had seen on the spring limiteds from Taylor. I had…

rockin' summer bar setlist suggestions
Hey hey Just started a new weekly summer residency at a local sports bar. acoustic (mainly) duo stuff. I sing and play rhythm and one of my guitar teachers plays lead, sings backup. Its a "...and friends" night, so we bring up special guests and make it real fun. Played our first one this week and it went well. Pj related…

Learning Guitar // Music Theory
So I have picked up the guitar and am trying to teach myself. I'm not very good, yet. But am hoping to practice 1-3 hours everyday until i become good enough to mess around, have fun, and sing songs by the campfire. This is where my question comes: Do I need to know the Music theory behind the guitar? Why this chord and…

anyone use a jamman solo yet?
I'm thinking of trying to implement a looping pedal into my live rig. Mainly for use in live on the fly situations. Being able to loop a rhythm part then instantly solo over it. The jamman solo looks cool (jamman stereo even better). But everyone I see using one is doing that big loopy looping stuff. I just want simple…

new amp suggestions...
Ok, so I am in the market for a new amp over the next few months. I've currently got a VOX AC30ccx2 with the celestion blues, and an Orange AD30TC. I got the bug a few weeks ago while playing a Bad Cat Hot cat 30, and then a Divided by 13 37. Both were used, and really good deals, but I passed since I haven't really been…

Dumbest guitar question ever?
Do certain types of acoustic guitars suit playing with a pick and do others suit playing without one? While I'm on a roll, do you wait until your fingers are fully in position before the strum or can the strum happen as the fingers are being positioned?

Recording Your Music at Home
I was looking into getting a mac book pro and a SM57, but a buddy of mine said it would be cheaper if I bought a laptop on newegg.com and just use Audacity. I checked other recording software to use intead of Audacity and Pro Tools seems the way to go (but it's expensive for a University student :( ). I was just wondering…

Can someone recommend a pedal...
Playing a strat out of a fender frontman 65R and looking for a little more thickness from the drive channel. THe drive channel is just OK but it seems too trebley even after adjusting the bass and mid knobs. Im not looking for a heavy metal/death metal sound.. Looking for a pedal that may fatten up the sound a little and…

Rhythm
I know that this might sound pretty stupid but that ship has sailed already, so. I have a real problem remembering a rhythm, have heard some talk about 4 beats or something but as I never know where I am going to be next week I can't schedule lessons. I downloaded a lesson from utube, Tom Petty , I wont back down. When I…

Hearing Protection during Rehearsal
What do you guys use for hearing protection during rehearsal? After not worrying about it for a while, I suddenly decided to use earplugs - problem was that it made talking impossible, and I especially couldn't hear myself talk. I also felt awkward because none of my bandmates use earplugs. I was thinking of getting the…

concert earplugs opinions
so i have reached that point, my loooong and extremely active concert attending career is most certainly taking a toll on the old ears i always try to sit as close to the stage as possible weather it be big ol' sheds or dingy little clubs (i blame the clubs more than anything, an amature mix where the soundguy thinks…
