I have it, along with a TON of other overdrive pedals. It's an amazing pedal that is very versatile. If you mod it, you can do even more. It's a great pedal for a fantastic price. The tubescreamer is great, too (not as versatile, in my opinion) but it'll drive your tubes pretty well. There are tons of other OD/Tube boosting pedals but you're gonna spend more money for something that's either not as versatile or does the same thing. Good luck!

  • I have the Blues Driver, and in my opinion, it blows the tubescreamer out of the water (sorry ts9 fans).

It has a lot of punch, and just drips of that dirty blues sound if thats what you're looking for, but you can also lay off the gain a bit and just use for a bit of overdrive.

    highly recommended.

  • I personally recommend the fulltone ocd prdal. It costs a bit more but is worth it. Handwired, top quality. Musical overdrive. Perfect for blues. Two modes, low peak and high peak (american is low peak, british is high peak).

Just a completely awesome singing tonefull overdrive. Check it out.

    +1

my ocd is an indispensible part of my tone. i had a blues driver years ago and i liked it alot, but my other guitar player had an ocd and he turned me on to that, so i had to get one too...

  • I have been looking at the BD-2 for a while, and I finally bought one yesterday. It's an incredible volume boost, and with the gain control at around 11 o'clock, I love the sparkle it adds. I'm running it through my Fender supersonic which is already a loud amp, so I think I'll keep the output level pretty low. Dial up more gain and I was getting really thick bluesy sounds, really edgy, not as smooth as I'm going for. I bought it with the intention of modding it. It's a pretty noisy pedal with single coils, I play a strat, but there are some mod kits online that look fun and supposedly reduce noise and smooth out the pedals overdrive sounds.

As to the original posters question, I think this box is worth looking at, especially if you're going for a heavy breakup sound. It might add a lot noise while you're playing your Tele though, and it is very bright, so I'd try it in the store before you drop the 100 bucks. One thing I immediately noticed with the BD-2 is that chords sound terrific, it doesn't get all buzzy like many other OD and Fuzz boxes do.
