Christmas songs playlist
I'm making a Christmas themed playlist. Listening to traditional Christmas Carols all day is not an option for me, since they drive me nuts. Pearl Jam have a few good christmas songs, but now looking for songs by other artists to add to it. Any suggestions?

Counting Crows
Along with PJ and Alice in Chains, the Crows were in my holy trinity of favorite bands growing up. Today, they suck ass. Why?

Tool
My buddy is a big Tool fan ( I can take them or leave them) and he didn't get tickets today as they sold out in minutes in Boston and Hartford. I am trying to see a concert in every state and only have Georgia left on the east coast so I checked tickets for the show in Duluth, GA which is a town I never heard of though it…

I can't get this band out of my head!
The band called "La Dispute" is my second favourite band behind Pearl Jam. They have some of my favourite lyrics in all of the music I listen to. They are putting out a new album soon called "Wildlife" . La Dispute does both spoken word and more of a post hardcore sound. Check It Out!…

***The Official Stone Temple Pilots Thread***
It should come as no surprise that Chester Bennington has split (amicably) from STP. He was just spread too thin being the lead singer of two bands. Oddly, it was Scott Weiland who broke the news the other day, with STP confirming it today. What does the band do now? They say they have a number of songs recorded and have…

Elvis Presley
Thoughts on him and his music? His influence? Hearing the talk of MJ the last 2 weeks, and his nickname, "King of Pop", obviously harkens back to a MJ idol, of course another person labeled the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Elvis seems to me to be among those giants like The beatles, or Dylan, or MJ, who are so…

Afghan Whigs et al....
Twilight Singers, Gutter Twins, Greg Dulli solo....etc Anybody into them? Favorites? The Afghan Whigs were the first band I really developed a band crush on, so to speak. I bought everything, traded every bootleg I could find, went to tons of shows, etc. Then of course, they broke up. Sad times, indeed. Luckily, Greg Dulli…

Bowie is OK, but there is more
I can't see why Bowie is that great. I think he is OK, but not the absolute best. I often get the feeling that I am supposed to feel Bowie is the summit. An obvious point of critiec for me would be his singing. To me it seems plain to see-hear that there are better voices in rock music than Bowie is. I mentioned this to a…

Clutch
I've just discovered it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4WlqxPzQ28 Has anyone heard of them before? It's from the album Blast Tyrant (2004). I think it's a pretty good groove metal song. What do you think?

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
I think there are a few fans of this band in here....right :) ? Recently I caught Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (again) as they're currently on the road with Stone Temple Pilots. Ten years in the making, BRMC's a band that's well overdue for being recognized, as they are probably one of the best bands today in a pool of…

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Any fans of these guys? Been hooked on them for the last few months.

RIP Steve Cropper
I was first introduced to Steve via The Blues Brothers. Later he appeared on a PJ bootleg I bought doing Dock Of The Bay with the guys. An absolute incredible musician and played on so many legendary tracks. RIP Steve. Your music will live on forever.

Bad Brains
I was watching Fuse late at night and all of a sudden a video comes by Bad Brains called "Give Thanks And Praises/Jah Love" from Bad Brains from their new album "Build A Nation," and I must say I was really impressed. For the last few weeks or so I've built an appreciation for reggae, and even so, dub style reggae. I even…

The National
This is my first post in something other than the Porch. Hello! I feel a little late to the party regarding the National. I'd heard of them, but had no idea about them. A few weeks ago, my local station was playing a great song, and I tracked it down: it was "Bloodbuzz Ohio" by the National. I picked up that album (High…

Kings of Leon...
Ok, been a hardcore PJ fan since TEN hit. I saw kings of Leon a few times and thought they were good. Never thought of buying their shit though... I obviously knew that they opened for Pearl Jam a lot in the past tours and still nothing. There is a station 104.5 in Philly and they play all the "popular" Kings of Leon stuff…

Lou Barlow / Sebadoh / Folk Implosion / Sentridoh
Not really sure how much interest there will be in this thread, but I just wanted to show some love for Lou Barlow (without hijacking the Dinosaur Jr thread any more than I already have!) Like many other musicians these days Lou has been live streaming sets on Instagram and Facebook and they are always really cool. They've…

The Headstones
EDIT August 31/12: since I first started this thread, as many of you know, the band has reformed and are recording a new album as we speak. Can't wait to hear it and see them live again!! The Headstones were one of the most successful Canadian bands of the 90's, along with I Mother Earth, Our Lady Peace, and the Tea Party…

Jay and the Americans
Check out the vocals on this performance from a 1965 episode of the Merv Griffin show. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but the singing here to me is just jaw dropping great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKp7Xf8OGX8

The Pearl Jam Community Top 100 Metal Albums
I'd like to TRY to have a little fun with this idea I got from another music forum. 1) One album per post 2) A PJC member can only post an album every 10 picks (or every 5 if it grows stagnant) 3) Please cut and paste as you post 4) Please give a brief reason beneath your pick as to why you're choosing that particular…

I apologize for another AIC thread, but i was wondering if anyone has read any biographies about AIC and/or Layne that are worth checking out. Seeing them on this current tour has re-kickstarted my interest. Thanks for any info.

Locked Groove Records
I wasn't sure where to post this, or if it was even appropriate to do so. As I age, I want to open my own record store in retirement. I started recently with what my friend Julien called a "record hub" and I built a website. I would love some feedback on the website. https://lockedgrooverecords.com/ Admins, if this isn't…

I Mother Earth
Guitarist Jagori Tanna posted this on Facebook and their website a few minutes ago: WHAT?? IME W/EDWIN?? I know… completely crazy!! So… where to begin with all of this stuff that’s been going on? I’m just as shocked/excited/confused/pumped as all of you! So let’s start at the beginning… which was basically 2 weeks ago. Or…
