These guys make up my holy trilogy: Neil Young , Pearl Jam, & Wilco.

They have been my fav three bands for a long time.

I'm a big Yankee Hotel Foxtrot fan. I like each album for what it is but the songs on YHF all just hit me the right way. I actually like A Ghost is Born the least (still love it!) because although it has some of my favorite songs i don't think it flows well as an album.

Songs... hmm that is harder definately Jesus Etc, Don't Forget the Flowers, so many to think ofreally.

Can't wait for the live dvd, can't wait for the new album. CAN'T wait for the TOUR!!

Also Nels Cline adds so much to this band. HE is the MAN!

  • Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is definitely one of their best albums, but I like Summerteeth more. You can't get much better than "She's a Jar." Then again, I started listening to Wilco b/c of "Casino Queen." That song is awesome! And then there's "Kingpin." ...They really have too many good songs just to call one your favorite.

big fan of sky blue sky. I know wilco fans will say that its nothing compared to their earlier stuff, but i've given yankee foxtrot quite a few listens, and i still say sky blue sky is a masterpiece in my book. that and nels cline is the man

They've become my second favorite band. Favorite album would probably have to be A Ghost is Born but I love them all. There has been no drop off in quality with these guys either. They just continue to evolve and get better. Way too many great songs to name a favorite. You should look into some of Jeff Tweedy's side projects too, like Down with Wilco, Golden Smog, and the two albums they recorded with Billy Bragg, called Mermaid Avenue parts I and II.

i only have sky blue sky. just getting into them.
im trying to get the rest to get ready for bonnaroo
    cant wait :D

I love mermaid avenue albums especially the songs with Tweedy singing. Feed Of Man, Hoodoo Voodoo, California Stars, Remember The Mountain Bed, One by One etc. I love those albums. As for the other albums wilco contributed on like down with wilco, golden smog etc. I'm yet to hear them but they will be good I think.

    My fav Wilco album is possibly summerteeth with SBS a close second. If I was to do a mix today for my ipod it would go something like this;

    She's a Jar
    Sunken Treasure
    Kicking Television
    Just a Kid
    Let's Not Get Carried Away
    Either Way
    Car's Can't Escape
    Pieholden Suite
    Remember the Mountain Bed
    Monday
    The Thanks I Get
    Summerteeth
    Shouldn't Be Ashamed
    Hate it Here
    Via Chicago (live version)
    Please Be Patient With Me
    Handshake Drugs
    Dreamer in my Dreams

Wilco is my second favorite band
    favorite shows of 08
    Wilco in tanglewood

two best live bands out there right now (and mmj)

hoping for a NY date between jazz fest and spain
I mean, they have to play letterman to promote the DVD and the record right?

I could not pick a favorite song or record. Each record has its highs and lows for me.

Yeah, anyone who likes Wilco needs to check out Uncle Tupelo. (Though I sometimes skip Jeff's songs, oddly enough).

    Yes, Yes and Yes

Cool to see Wilco open for Neil in December. I missed the Rochester show :(

Wilco is one of those bands that I gravitate to one album based on my mood of the day and the next day a different album feels right.

Judging by my I-tune played counter

    1.AGIB
    2. Sky Blue Sky
    3. Kicking Television
    4. YFH
    5 Being There
    6. AM

Today my two songs are. Impossible Germany and At least that's what you said followed closely by California Stars.

I've never seen Wilco live, and that is a travesty.
My favorite album: Summerteeth. I didn't care for it at first, but it took me through one spring break in college when i had to stay at school and write papers. it's all is listened to for a week.

Like someone said, It's hard to rank the others, as all have there own strengths. Maybe: YHF, Sky Blue Sky, Kicking Television (how great a live album is this?) Being There, A Ghost is Born, AM. I love AM, but it feels too much like an Uncle Tupelo extension. Oh, and everyone should own No Depression.

    Songs: Jesus, Etc.

have people seen the ashes of american flag trailer.. if not go to www.wilcoworld.net... it's going to be great. The setlist is posted on the semi official forum (via chicago)... similar to the last PJ DVD release; a mix of documentary stuff with live performances mixed in.

here is the tracklist... I would have preferred a full show (like Okonakos) but here it is. A nice balanced setlist. I guess there is going to be extra bonus tracks also.

    1 Ashes of American Flags
    2 Side with the Seeds
    3 Handshake Drugs
    4 The Late Greats
    5 Kingpin
    6 Wishful Thinking
    7 Impossible Germany
    8 Via Chicago
9 A Shot in the Arm
    10 Monday
    11 You Are My Face
    12 Heavy Metal Drummer
    13 War on War

I'm confused by the short tracklist. With all the Wilco video footage out there I feel like a 13 track set is pretty unimpressive. I'm still looking forward to it, but I have a feeling I may find myself going back to the JHamm DVD's (http://www.thedvdproject.net/) and letting this one sit in the box after one or two viewings.

jeff's line about being on steroids in the DVD trailer is great

tweedy isn't the normal 'rock star' type.. he can be very quirky on stage. Can't wait for this DVD I really can't.. Glad they put Side With The Seeds on there I love that track. No AM but they rarely play AM tracks nowadays anyway.

I hate to act all girly and stuff, but I think Jeff Tweedy is the most lovable frontman on the planet. He's so endearing.

Has there been any word on when exactly the new albums supposed to be coming out? I vaguely remember hearing about them wanting to start their tour in April, shortly before the new album was coming out, but I can't find the source at all. Completely psyched for the new music.

well they are playing shows in Spain, Portugal, Bonnaroo, New Orleans and Minnesota (somewhere in that region) but no mention of a new album yet.. I think around May/June it will be out. I hope they start playing new stuff in April.

I think it will be out before the jazz fest and the spain/portugal dates
also, look for some tour dates in the US before they head off to europe-not like them to do one offs
wouldnt surprise me if they do letterman before spain to promote the DVD and the new record
