    crazy...how awful

We had a shooting at our local middle school a few years back. My kids were both at the high school at that time but the first reports of a school shooting were horrifying as we didn't know which school and all schools went on lockdown so the students really didn't know either.

The shooter lived in my neighborhood and the kid across the street (still there) was in the classroom. He immediately became a home schooler understandably.

Oh wow!  That's horrible. Certainly understand not going back.  One of my former colleagues (who's now retired) was a teacher at Columbine when it happened.  She told me a little bit of her story.  Wouldn't wish any of these shootings on my worst enemy!

Also, CNN is now reporting that the shooter is a 14 year old.

Were any “responsible” gun owners held “responsible” for a 13 year old getting access to the gun? Or did they just 3D print or buy it from WallyMart? Maybe it fell out of a tree? The gun tree.

Well, anyway, I'm off topic of a thread I started, and that is my bad.  It's just that this whole issue with Captain Watson trying to stop the Japanese with their illegal whaling, and that issue being overlooked has me pretty much in a major bummer lately.  It's a very important issue that gets shoved to the back pages.  And that's just crazy making.

Because every 14 year old should have access to an AR15. And why not?

    • The weapon used in the mass shooting at Apalachee High School was an AR-15-style rifle, a law enforcement official told CNN. The official did not provide any information on how investigators believe the suspect obtained the weapon or any other details on the weapon and ammunition used.

Christ, this kid was interviewed with the dad last year due to allegations of him making threats about a school shooting. FBI and local authorities were involved. Dad admitted there were hunting guns in the house, but that his son didn't have access to them. Fuck that. Victim's families are going to have a field day with that lawsuit. How pathetic. I'd be enraged as a parent.
    It's a hopeless situation...

arrest the parents as being culpable.

Absolutely.   No one that's not fighting in a war needs an automatic weapon in the first place, and even if they are legal, any parent that has one that is accessible to a kid is as guilty as the kid, maybe more.  I really hope they are tried in a court of law.

Most of these shooters are expecting to die. The threat of execution has no deterrent effect on someone whose aim is to go out in a blaze of glory.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.
