Yes, I actually found that after. Thank you! I guess there is no such thing as covid insurance so that if you happen to test positive down there and have to stay two weeks, you'd be covered?
You actually can get insurance to cover you for Covid. Maybe not all companies cover but a bunch of them do. The names escape me at the moment.

i flew into nyc for a massive reunion this summer, and the common, easy-to-do-trip, was not like before ...i hated airports before and they just got worse ... and the paranoia about getting a positive test result and being stuck where u flew to... not good!
ny got the ways and means .. but not worth the risk.(imo). i'm done....see ya next year, eh!

I have 300 a day for 10 days max plus medical expenses through Pacific Blue Cross. Requires fully vaxxed status.

Perhaps you are referring to fully vaccinated foreign nationals being allowed entry for non-essential purposes? I still see the same Ole song and dance required for re-entry.

  • So from the information I’ve gathered it looks like Canadians flying in need a PCR test within 72hrs for both their arrival and departure.  Has anyone coming from Ontario found a PCR place for less then 150-200.00?  Also it looks like you can book a test in California at CVS but i couldn’t confirm if their would be a cost to getting it done there?  Any advice from anyone else that has travelled to the USA recently would be appreciated, I’m fully vaxxed and looking for some one with some recent experience as I haven’t flown to the USA in almost 2 years now…

Yes, I only read the first couple sentences and thought it was about less restrictions for Vaxxed but alas I was wrong.  Still thinking about rolling the dice.  But as the time gets closer my feet get colder

I think you only need antigen test to fly to the US.  That was true in August for sure.  Pearson airport offers this test for about $65 Canadian.  I believe it is still all that’s needed (but I haven’t reconfirmed).  Returning to Canada needs a PCR for sure.  Can’t speak to CVS but generally speaking the free tests in the US aren’t reliable to get back within the necessary interval.

SNA does not offer PCR tests, although it seems many are trying to do the 72 hour no test on way home travel.

  • This is a site in Santa Ana that provides testing and is open on Saturday and Sunday:https://www.covidclinic.org/santa-ana/ It looks like the rapid PCR test is $150. Hope this helps!

^Thx. We're staying on for disneyland and will take a taxi through a drive though testing site on Katella, 71.5 hours before our return flight. I had to bribe the kid to go to a non-pop show somehow!!!

Adding Disneyland to the trip! Expensive, but fun! You guys are going to have a heck of a vacation.

I crossed 4 international borders (Canada->US->Honduras->US->Canada) in the last two weeks, so maybe I should do an AMA. I have two passports and Nexus/Global Entry, but things were actually very smooth.

Going into the US, the airline checked the antigen test ($40 at Shoppers Drug Mart, results in 15 minutes). Border crossing was business as usual. Border guard did not ask for the test results.

Coming back into Canada, my PCR test at Walgreens took 30 hours for the email to hit my inbox. The revised ArriveCAN app is pretty easy to use. You have to upload vaccine card, but not the PCR test results. I strongly suggest printing the PCR test as the airline and border want to see it. There was no line at YYZ on Thursday at noon. The border guard asked me a few more questions than usual (even with Nexus being open), but nothing out of the ordinary. I would strongly suggest filling out ArriveCAN on their website, if possible, as it takes 15 minutes or so.

There were plenty of PCR appointments available at Walgreens, but I couldn't find anything at CVS. Not sure if they are stopping them or what the deal might be.

I was not selected for any kind of test at YYZ and exited as normal. Nothing to do after you leave the airport in terms of the app or follow up tests.

Thanks for the info. Can you expand upon the suggestion of needing a printed copy of your PCR test to fly back with? I will not have access to a computer or printer.

I'm guessing you will be fine with it on your phone, but it is a lab report that is difficult to read. I printed it in the hotel business center. I try to spend as little time with border guards as possible.
  • It doesn’t have to be printed.  At least it didn’t in August.  That said it never hurts to make the border agent’s job easier.

The hotel business centre might be a great idea thanks as a back up.

I see that there are 2 Walgreen's that are within a 15 minute drive from Dana Point and both offer the PCR tests, appointments are required.
