In positive news if China's numbers are correct their numbers have started to swing the other way. Hopefully South Korea and Italy can get there as well and China remains on this course. Long term this is the news we want to be hearing.

The problem is China's numbers are only plateauing because of quarantine. As soon as they open the doors and people start mingling it will likely spread again.

Or as soon as someone travels to/from a country that hasn't killed it and the process starts all over again. Once a virus has gone pandemic it becomes a game of whack-a-mole.

Why can't you just say that its positive news and promising instead of always putting a negative spin on things? If the numbers go up its bad. If the numbers go down its temporary. Lose lose on all accounts. There is no problem with China's numbers going down. That is a positive. Take it as a win for now quarantine or not.
Being a realist and stating facts isn't a bad thing. I'm a very positive guy. I'm still planning on heading to Canada. That sad it's important to be realistic.

Yes it is awesome that China has slowed the virus way down by locking everyone in their homes. Unfortunately that's not sustainable long term.

I think it's as important to understand why something is happening. Sincerely sorry if that bugs ya, but that needed clarification for those who didn't understand the why.
Everybody knows the quarantine is part of the reason the numbers are swinging. You are not informing anyone on that matter. I am just saying it is positive news as it is and you need to comeback with a ya but. You have no clue if after they reopen their doors that its going to take off again. You are speculating on the matter and time will tell if you are right or wrong. That is no way a fact. Also you are not bugging me or educating me. We all have this information a click away if we want it. Some of us look at the news differently and thats ok. Be prepared, be positive and hope the shows go on and more importantly this virus is stopped.
Fair enough. You are on top of this.

However we still have folks in here saying "no big deal" and "just a cold" so thinking everyone is on top of this as us, or is as aware of pandemic patterns is maybe a leap of faith :)

Pandemic means it's pretty contagious, but not necessarily related to how bad the actual virus is?   From what I've read it seems in young healthly people (under 60) the mortality rate isn't much different than other stuff that already circulates.    For people over 60, especially ones with other health problems, it's higher.    To me it feels like the danger is more in how courageous this might be, rather than how lethal the virus is?

I think you are on an island so you may not know but has BC changed anything since now there is 8 confirmed there? As far as I can tell in Canada they keep saying very low risk and just be aware.

Not really.  I read about the recent case and the person had already put themselves in self isolation because of contact with another person.    No one seems to be to worried about it here.

On the other hand it could just be me.  I figure if I get it, it'll run its course, and life goes on....

Like it or not even The Olympics are in a very real danger of being cancelled because of this.  That being said I’m pretty certain that some of these Pearl Jam Europe shows (primarily) at the moment may become in Jeopardy as well; particularly the Italy show.  The next couple of months will tell the tale for those shows.  Anyone attending any of these shows should certainly be cognizant of this being a very real possibility.  I sincerely hope that no shows get cancelled but I’d be feeling very nervous about it if I had tickets to any of those shows especially The Europe shows.  Things would have to get super bad and super fast for any March shows to be cancelled.

While I hope you are right with the March shows I feel the complete opposite with what shows are in jeopardy. This graph says it all for me and shows how quick this could go sideways in NA.

I think the spring tour is more in jeopardy than the Europe summer tour. It feels like the virus is just now about to break out around the USA, and mass gatherings are going to be curtailed. Where by the summer, there's a decent chance this might be under better control. It may of played itself out already.

Also, if one goes back to the Spanish flu of 1918, it was bad in the spring, kind of went away in the summer, then came back even stronger after the summer ended. While nobody knows how this particular flu will act, flu's often have a tendency to thrive in the winter and back off a bit in the warmer summer months.

It's clearly pointless to discus the virus itself in here as there are folks who are just going to spin things in their heads however they need to justify their show happing. I can't blame em... I really want my shows to happen too :)

Ughhh.......  I guess part of my logic for thinking the March/early shows on the tour would/could be safer was taking into account Dick Pound’s assessment for The Tokyo Olympics where he estimated there is a three-month window – perhaps a two-month one – to decide the fate of the Tokyo Olympics, meaning a decision could be put off until late May.  IMO Possibly being able to put off a decision of that magnitude for clearly a MUCH larger event than a PJ concert with a MUCH larger gathering of people which runs over the course of pretty much 8 weeks with media and news outlets from all over the world arriving earlier and the games themselves which include The Paralympics made me a little optimistic that The March shows wouldn’t be in danger.  But I can definitely see the other side of this too and I am starting to get concerned.  It will just really suck if anything is cancelled but everyone’s safety and health is surely paramount.  I’ll understand it if anything is cancelled but it will surely suck......  It’s crunch time and if they were to cancel they would need to make a decision fairly quickly as were under 3 weeks away from the start of the tour.

Innings festival went without a hitch. Spring training baseball games have been packed. Life goes on unabated. More and more concerts are being announced. March madness will go on. NBA and NHL arenas are loaded, and XFL continues to draw attendance.  Just the facts.

I hope your right.  I’m from and live in Toronto.  I remember The SARS outbreak in 03.  It severely crippled my city that year and I know people who worked in the health field and those who run businesses or went out of business who are still haunted by it.

From what I’ve heard from friends in the health field, I’d be very surprised if the European tour went ahead, even though it’s 4 months away.

I’ve still got accommodation to book for Kraków and Amsterdam but I’m holding off for the time being.
