Sadly, we can't. And we shouldn't expect that it will be.

In positive news if China's numbers are correct their numbers have started to swing the other way. Hopefully South Korea and Italy can get there as well and China remains on this course. Long term this is the news we want to be hearing.

The problem is China's numbers are only plateauing because of quarantine. As soon as they open the doors and people start mingling it will likely spread again.

Or as soon as someone travels to/from a country that hasn't killed it and the process starts all over again. Once a virus has gone pandemic it becomes a game of whack-a-mole.

This is why we are in a much worse position than we ever should be. Testing is what other countries are doing, London has a drive thru test site, not the US.  Questioning why we have so few tests for a pandemic, but we have a space force and are increasing  nukes is legitimate.  Priorities and logic are currently fucked and true knowledge is ridiculed. How can we be confident that this will be handled in an organized and safe manner?

Why can't you just say that its positive news and promising instead of always putting a negative spin on things? If the numbers go up its bad. If the numbers go down its temporary. Lose lose on all accounts. There is no problem with China's numbers going down. That is a positive. Take it as a win for now quarantine or not.

The issue today is that we have the ability to prevent transmission.  The influenza flu pandemic 1918 killed an estimated 50+ million people world wide.  A few reasons this was so widespread was because of lack of knowledge.  People in Chicago had more knowledge of the sickness than say people in Philadelphia.  So there was no panic in Philadelphia when they threw a huge parade.  A large group of people, in close contact, during a pandemic.  Look up the numbers for Philly during that time.  News didn't travel so fast back then.  Obviously today, prevention efforts and knowledge is readily available.  It would be wise to use those tools.
We still have a similar situation. The difference now is that knowledge about the sickness is not dictated by location but by whether you listen to scientists or the president.

...so, Switzerland has imposed a ban on public events that gather more than 1,000 people together in the same place until at least March 15 in response to the coronavirus threat.

My wife works in healthcare, trust me, people who can't or don't pay make up a large portion of people walking into hospital. I don't think that will be an main factor in any disease spread.

Pointless thread?  This is the most ignorant statement in this whole thread.   They are canceling conferences in the US,  larger events in Europe, etc... it is not unreasonable to think that the PJ tour could be impacted.

Did you read the quote about the doctor who was one of the whistleblowers in China about it?   No, because he died from it.  Get out of here with that article like one guy’s experience matters.

Sorry, this isn’t  going to kill millions but it is still something that has already disrupted the world so saying the thread is pointless is just silly.

Being a realist and stating facts isn't a bad thing. I'm a very positive guy. I'm still planning on heading to Canada. That sad it's important to be realistic.

Yes it is awesome that China has slowed the virus way down by locking everyone in their homes. Unfortunately that's not sustainable long term.

I think it's as important to understand why something is happening. Sincerely sorry if that bugs ya, but that needed clarification for those who didn't understand the why.

The cancelations go until Mar 15th and can move again if needed. March 15 until July 17th is 124 days. Over 1/3 of a year. Plenty can happen for better or worse in that timespan.

Everybody knows the quarantine is part of the reason the numbers are swinging. You are not informing anyone on that matter. I am just saying it is positive news as it is and you need to comeback with a ya but. You have no clue if after they reopen their doors that its going to take off again. You are speculating on the matter and time will tell if you are right or wrong. That is no way a fact. Also you are not bugging me or educating me. We all have this information a click away if we want it. Some of us look at the news differently and thats ok. Be prepared, be positive and hope the shows go on and more importantly this virus is stopped.

I think the impact on the tour is inevitable in one way or another at this point. Whether it be a full cancelation or city/state/province shutdown is what I would be curious to see.

I would assume the US/Canada border would be one of the last to close.. but I guess other things could cause the shows to get cancelled.   I'm not to worried about contracting the virus.  It seems to have a pretty low mortality rate for people under 60 in good health.
