Innings festival went without a hitch. Spring training baseball games have been packed. Life goes on unabated. More and more concerts are being announced. March madness will go on. NBA and NHL arenas are loaded, and XFL continues to draw attendance.  Just the facts.

March madness is ALREADY facing pressure to play in front of empty seats.

Gauging the effects of an outbreak 4 days after the first "in the wild" confirmation and 24hrs after the first death is a bit silly. :)
Where have you seen that there is pressure to play the NCAA tournament in empty stadiums?
Google “March madness empty stadium” and select news.  As of yesterday the NCAA is considering this option.
I don’t believe it’s the NCAA that’s considering this. It’s outside groups calling for it.

Let's be honest, PJ will probably announce the tour is cancelled the day before it begins.

Yeah that's a real eye roller......  First of all, people shouldn't come into work when they are ill to begin with but in light of current events its completely asinine and shows a total disregard for common sense and other people's well being.  I don't know if I'm as much upset that she is sick or that someone could be that stupid.  Probably a little bit of both.  Now is clearly not the time to throw caution to the wind.

As oblivious and ignorant you seem to be to the current realities of this very fluid and evolving situation - I actually REALLY hope your right and it's not a big deal.  I think your more concerned with the mere suggestion that your show could possibly be cancelled because of this virus which is on the brink of becoming a pandemic that is spreading rapidly and taking lives everywhere it has gone.  It's more than you right to completely ignore the facts.  I really don't want to be the one who said I told you so on this matter.  It will bring me no joy whatsoever.  I lived through SARS in my city.  Scientists and Doctors are saying this is ten times worst.  The Doctor who tired to bring this to the world's attention in China is now dead.  The mere suggestion of cancelling The Olympics by someone as esteemed and well respected as Dick Pound should highlight the seriousness and gravity of this situation.  But pay no mind....  None of The Pearl Jam shows are in danger.....

Same here.  It sucks bad, I was really looking forward to Quebec City itself, the show and spending  alone time with my wife.  Got to keep telling myself it is only a concert and Quebec City will still be there.

Maybe she can’t afford to take a day off.  In the current state of the economy I wouldn’t be surprised if many sick people in the US continue to come to work even if feeling under the weather.  If the choice is between getting someone else sick and maybe not having enough in your check to pay the rent, most people are gonna do what they have to to pay the rent.  If we had different social safety nets in place such as universal healthcare and a living wage perhaps we wouldn’t see these things.   I know I can’t afford days off of work and unless I’m bed ridden I will probably go in as well, nothing against the safety of my coworkers, but that’s just the economic reality for my family.

Another check mark for the PRO column for Universal Healthcare.  Healthcare tied to your job is damn near close to modern slavery, but that's for another thread... sorry.

I live in Canada.  We have paid sick days at our work and we also have universal health care here in Canada although I could possibly see your point if it were in The US but given the current black cloud of The Corona Virus I find it highly questionable that she would come in today.  Our customers/members are none to pleased about it either.  I am not her superior and management is not around because it's the weekend.  I'm not gonna rat her out but I'm pretty offended that she came in today like this especially in light of the current circumstances.  If management were here they would not take to kindly to her coming in like this any day but particularly now.  I won't be surprised if someone complains.  When all this Cornavirus stuff broke a company wide message was sent out urging anyone not feeling well to "Absolutely" not come to work.

Next little while going to be an interesting time. Confirmed person outside Toronto to contact the virus flew from Iran to Toronto with 2 stop overs and then public transportation all while having the virus.  I dont see the Canadian shows being cancelled if everything stays like it is today but this could escalate very quickly.

I'm 90% sure my trip to LA is off. Whether the shows get cancelled or not, some things in life aren't worth risking. For the time being, I'm going to hold on to the tickets in case the tour gets postponed and they can be used at a later date.

We were in Hampton when the tweet came in. Was riding in the hotel elevator and told other fans that NC had been cancelled. They didn’t believe us - had to convince them that I wasn’t joking.

There Corona virus is not stopping me from making these shows if they go on. If they do cancel however I hope it is warranted. Right now if it stays as it does with isolated cases in Canada I do not believe that to be warranted.. All medical experts are saying the risk getting the Corona Virus is low in Canada as of March 1st. Yes that can change in a minute but right now I have little reason to be concerned. However 17 days until the first show lots can happen. Fingers crossed the shows go on and again more importantly this virus does not hit as hard in NA as people are anticipating.

That is me however and I realize that others have differing views and opinions and you guys are entitled to that. I just wish the headlines from a lot of these news articles were not so clickbait in style.

Half would be bought by people who have no intention of using them and the other half would be bought by flippers.

Agree @PJNB. But this week's headlines will likely determine whether the NA tour goes on. NY state just announced it's first case. If cases remain isolated and the government can get test kits out faster, it should be ok.

Someone on an NPR report this morning said something that concerns me -- getting stuck where you are because flights get grounded while you are away from home. Ugh. I really can't have that happen.

There is zero chance of that happening with Canada and the US right now. Europe/Asia of course. If there is a European tour I do not see any scenario that you would get trapped over there. That is 4 months away and how this is going to trend will long be known by then.
