    I'll give Howard credit....

dude was part of a team that choked away a solid season and he suffered a pretty major injury....yet he is willing to head out in public to handle his business..knowing he will need to use a motorized shopping cart.

    that deserves a

Haha, very true I guess. I would have been on the ground laughing for 3.5 hours if I saw him rolling around the supermarket like a 75 year old lady.

I have been meaning to ask this since I hear this all the time. Why do you say that? I hear the opposite. I hear he's a complete dick, as I am sure the majority of professional athletes are.

Well maybe I'm overstating since I've never met him, all I've seen is his charity work, his interviews during the season, he just seems like a good guy. He participates in all or most of the other player's charities, which right there is a plus.
I have never once heard he was a dick.

Gotcha, no doubt he does a lot around the city. I just hear he isn't a friendly guy and thinks he's pretty important from bartenders and such. Like I said, I am sure all athletes are the same though, I just hear his name a lot.

bartenders really? 90% of dudes in bars are dicks to bartenders. as for ryan in 7 years the guy has never been in even a hint of trouble and has never acted out or lashed out at fans or media in a town that begs for that behavior. for all the guy has accomplished in this town and to take the amount of shit he takes from the media and fans you have to give him credit for never lashing out at least once.

I don't really give a shit. Players at his level shouldn't get in trouble. I just hear he isn't a friendly dude and I was curious since people have said he's a good dude recently.

you're talking to a yankee fan who hates the guy.

i know people who've seen him out. never heard anything bad about him at all. him and j roll were tailgating for an eagles game last year near some friends of mine. they were both tossing footballs around with kids all afternoon. pretty fucking cool if you were one of those kids.

he seems like a good dude. hopefully he won't miss too much time next year.

  • I love the whole "this bartender said he was a dick" thing. Guy probably expected a $100 tip or something and didn't get it so he badmouths the guy, then people like Cliffy drag it onto the internet.

Say what you want about him being overpaid or not a good player anymore or whatever, but don't go saying somebody's a dick when you have nothing to back that up.

I like you Cliffy, but you're way out of line here.

From what I've seen of this whole team, and again, I may be biased having not ever met them and loving the team as much as I do, THEY ALL seem like a great group of guys, very active in the community with inner city kids, etc.

It was an off hand remark since I have heard a lot of people saying he was a great guy recently and I've heard otherwise quite a bit. I honestly don't give a shit, I'm sure half the Yankees are assholes. It wasn't just bartenders and it has nothing to do with tips. It's just something I have heard come up many times and yeah, its mostly people that work in bars or restaurants since that's where they mostly are when they are in public. There are specific examples.

Anyone watch the fight last night? I just read about it and need to hear about it. How did he get that hurt that he couldnt continue? Seems bizarre, very happy I was out and didn't buy it.

That is complete nonsense jeags, complete nonsense. Baseball and boxing are the two greatest sports in the world. I could watch two no names box any day of the week. I was getting back into it at Joe hand, then broke my hand.

How does someone from Philly root against Hopkins?

honestly, i don't think people around here really care about him. most people i know think hopkins is annoying.

to me, the last time was boxing was cool was about 15 years ago. i miss the tyson days

I don't know man, I disagree. Philly is a huge boxing city and he's the best they have ever had.

We all miss the Tyson days. That's like saying someone misses the Ali days. Tyson is up there for me as one of my favorite athletes ever. Dude was incredible.

Who's gives a shit about boxing being cool? There are many shitty fights these days but it's still an incredible sport.
