    so frustrating

and after bitching about not having his regular lineup for 3 months, 2 of the 3 games they are all healthy he doesn't start them together. brilliant move charlie.

Brown needs to play 2 games a week against righties. Werth needs to sit more. he has been atrocious since May.

Bone-headed base running all season long for this team. Maybe time for Charlie to get mad.

can't hit Victorino 2nd behind Rollins - too many poor at-bats back to back with those 2 at the top of the lineup. 8th inning last night Rollins, Victorino and monster-head Polanco all swing with the count 1-0? bad baseball.

Utley should be hitting 2nd. Fixer never mentions that his numbers have also been on the decline for 3 years in a row now since the Hip injury.

You can't fault the manager for these adults on the basepaths. He can't hold their dicks for them.

The problem is too many role players trying to drive the ball outta the ballpark - ie Rollins and Shane.

Polanco is the best 2 hole hitter in the league and they have to start treating him as such. Like Jimmy getting on base and stealing second followed by a hit and run. People gotta remember that this is like the tenth time that all these guys have been healthy. Hopefully they can get their shit together sooner than later. I will fault Charlie for not putting his everyday lineup out there, but it's early so we'll see.

And Utley is your best hitter on this team. Your best hitter hits 3rd and that shouldn't change with him.

    1 - utley isn't making 25 million a year

2 - utleys WAR hasn't trended downwards like the gorilla at first

    2006 - 5.7
    2007 - 6.6
    2008 - 6.6
    2009 - 7.7
    2010 - 2.6

Utley didn't have a good game last night. his AB when he popped out to 2nd with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out was key.

Hey Fixer - so far, Cardinals 1-2 on Pitt/Wash road trip...

yeah, my 5-2 prediction isn't looking too good. doesn't really matter if the phils don't win though

at least kendrick pitches in a couple hours. that makes me feel a lot better

Agree with utley hitting 3rd. that's a no brainer. as well as polanco hitting 2nd.

I disagree with the baserunning thing. that is manuel's fault. he needs to hold these guys accountable for these dumb ass mistakes. when something dumb happens, put their ass on the bench (werth). he does that once and everyone takes notice. I'd rather see him burn a bench guy for something like that than pinch hit 2 guys at the same time.

frustration levels are high...they need to win today. still only 2 back with a win (braves are off)

quick question Fixer - is Utley near the same hitter he was before the hip injury? I don't think he is. he used to be a doubles machine, not so much anymore. Not trying to start a fight here but i see a decline in Chase since the hip injury. don't see the same stud hitter he used to be. yes he is still a very good hitter, just not an absolute stud anymore.

I hear you man. Did you feel this way in the World Series? I just think he's had a rough year. I also think it looks like he is swinging with one hand right now.

I always give him the benefit of the doubt because he's such a beast. Might be a lost year in 2010 and an important year for him in 2011.

other than the 6 world series games he wasn't great last year either. I just think that hip injury was a severe blow and not sure he is ever getting it back. don't get me wrong, not trying to pick on Chase, still love watching him play but scared that his run as a stud is over. going to be very interesting to see if he can work out that thumb and get it back this year. we need him for sure.

hopefully Kendrick can give us a good outing today, although I rarely have any faith in him. Win today get your bearings back a little bit and hopefully get it together on the west coast. let's go boys you are better than this.

imagine if there was a cardinals thread in here. i bet it would look pretty similiar to this one over the past couple weeks. ;) at least these other teams keep losing too.

thank god for a day game. i can use a night or two free of this frustration.

    GO BIRDS.

Including today's games here is the breakdown for home and away for the teams still alive in the NL the rest of the way:

Phils 14 home and 22 road
Braves 20 home and 15 road
Reds 19 home and 16 road
St. Louis 17 home and 21 road
SD 21 home and 16 road
SF 18 home and 16 road
Colorado 20 home and 16 road

So the Phils probably have the toughest path to close out the season the rest of the way.

I understand your concerns, but I wouldn't worry. His stats aren't as decreased as you're saying (before this year).

The definitley need to get utley, howard, and victorino going. Rollins has come around, and werth has been pretty consistent (amazingly...still can't believe he's hitting .300).

They are definitely better than this. Big game today. They usually play pretty well in SD and LA, but that road trip is gonna be tough. Time to get your shit together fellas

Pads are pretty much in. Hopefully brandon phillips' finger is broken. that would be a huge blow to the reds. I think the rocks will make a run at the wild card, but I think the WC still comes out of the shitty central

Same here. I've been saying to my dad for awhile now that both the Reds and Cards should make it because they play their crappy division in September.

scary Braves got 6 more home games than Phils. They've been deadly at home this year.
