He wasn't just talking, he was disrupting a public event. At some point that becomes disturbing the peace. The kid was not interested in Kerry's response (although I would have been). He started talking, and wouldn't shut up. Even after Kerry said he'd answer the questions he'd start yelling and creating a disturbance.

If any of you think he acted with decorum and respect, let me know. I'd like to stay away from you at public meetings.

He didnt start yelling until they cut his mic and the police started to confront him. Up until that point, while I'll admit, he was being annoying he was asking a question. Kerry asks him what point was being made (because the guy wouldn't get to the point) and Andrew responded that he was asking a question, he was just informing everybody as he did so. Kerry said alright and continued to let him talk. Even after they cut his mic and the cops confronted him Kerry told the cops to leave him alone, he'll answer the dude's questions. Obviously, they don't.

actually he started shouting when the security grabbed him and led him away from the mic. kerry was about to answer but the security didnt wait.

it wasnt like the guy asked the questions and started shouting at kerry to answer. he wasnt even given the opportunity to wait and see if kerry would answer

He was supposed to ask a question. He ended up asking multiple questions with no end in sight. When they started leading him away, Kerry spoke up and said he'd answer. But the dumbass was so busy being a bitch that the entire meeting came to a stop and he got all of the attention. As soon as things settled down a bit, and Kerry tried to answer AGAIN, the dumbass started yelling and pitching a fit again. When it was clear that the kid wouldn't allow the meeting to continue, they tasered him.

If someone else can show a pattern of tasering people asking reasonable questions I'll be up in arms about it. But showing a video of a spastic journalism student screaming for attention, and extrapolate that to post-Patriot Act America doesn't work.

we get it, you think the guy is a dick...but that doesn't justify the cops actions...

apparently, a lot of the people in attendance thought he was a dick too because they started applauding when they thought he was finally done talking. Funny how quick that changed when they realized he was being arrested and tased by the cops.

There was one video posted that was from the right side at the back of the auditorium. It shows the cops turn him on his stomach then handcuff him before tasering. Granted, he was still squirming a bit, but he was cuffed. What was he going to pull out, a spit ball? They only needed to stand him up. Can't 4 or 5 cops lift a 160 lb boy? Crazy!

I count six cops, pretty big ones. you wanna hear something crazier than that? in 2004, a SIX YEAR OLD male was TASERED at school. The cops said he was threatening to injure himself with a piece of glass and that it was their only option. So apparently, our cops (Florida) can't even subdue and fucking six year old kid.

I don't know..I think if the kid has something that can harm himself or others, then fine...if he was just talking shit...not fine...

please note: I've worked in group homes and a wilderness camp many moons ago...a crazy kid is just as dangerous, if not more dangerous than a adult...especially if they have a weapon...

I'll give you mmore shit to blow your mind later
  • i dont have a problem with tasering a guy in cuffs. if he is resisting its possibly safer (and legally wise) to zap him than to drag him out, creating a higher likelyhood of injury to himself. its a liability issue. If they broke the guy's arm dragging him out he could have a stronger case to sue.
  • blah double post
  • Tasers are making cops lazy and unable to complete their jobs effectively, in the manner that is both efficient and satisfactory to the public.

some of the stuff listed at this website a direct example of what I said above.

    http://www.afn.org/~iguana/archives/2005_04/20050402.html

    * A man booked into the jail on an outstanding traffic warrant was allegedly assaulted and subjected to an "overly invasive bodily search" and repeatedly called a "faggot." He was allegedly tasered while he was prostrate and in handcuffs.

    * A woman booked into the jail in March 2003 was placed in a cell by herself in a distraught condition. A jail employee said he would taser her if she did not be quiet and calm herself. It is alleged that, while she was attempting to calm down, two guards entered her cell and one attached two taser clips to her shirt in the chest region; the other guard then activated the taser gun. According to the lawsuit, she suffered "severe burns and permanent scars to her chest and stomach" as a result of being tasered.

That's just a couple of them.
  • I think some people here have partied too much with this guy:

when did it become ok to arrest and taser someone for being annoying??

let me see, one unarmed 21 yr old kid holding a book, vs. 4 cops armed with guns and tasers....who's gonna win that one?

the general attitude around here and in this country seems to be "what the hell, if its not happening to me then its ok.."

i am apalled that people believe that this is ok and that it is not an abuse of power or an infringement on this kids rights. and fucking kerry did nothing to stop it. it is your right and duty to question senators.

i find it mildly ironic that kerry, who so famously used this same freedom of speech while addressing congress during the viet nam war, whose freedom of speech was protected at that time, did not extend that same right to this kid. he could have said something from the podium or stepped in to stop it from escalating as far as it did.

wtf is wrong with the police lately?

  • I am under the impression that few people actually watched the video of what happened. The fool needed to be tased--idiot was bugging out and creating an unnecessary scene (which was way over the top if you really watch it). The cops warned him and he wouldn't calm down, he wasn't even completely handcuffed it looked like.
  • he was unarmed. There were 4 officers with mace, guns, billyclubs, and tasers.

Every single goddamn thing like this always plays out this way: police and their supporters act like the police HAD to act.

The kid was unarmed. Simple facts people.

Its gross no one did a goddamn thing too.

how many people were actually at the forum there? Hundreds? Why didnt some of them start walking up to the police and demanding to know what was going on?

Its funny how people sat back and did nothing while someone was being tasered!

The police had a choice. React or not react. They chose to react violently.

I hate cops. They are sick. And this is an illustration of why I hate them.

    Their entire existance is brutal.

  • i took a college course with one of the most reknowed and important socialist thinkers of our time- John Bellamy Foster.

His son was friends with a high school kid who was killed by police.

My professor said this: If my house was broken into, i would let the burgular kill me before I called the police"

    I agree.

    Police are monsters.

Its the only profession where you can kill people, and not be punished.

"Killing and brutalizing citizens daily" should be their motto

so, if someone perceives you as "bugging out", being "unnecessary" and acting "way over the top", you'd be ok with them tasing you...

If I was acting like that tard then I'd deserve it. It could've been a simple procedure--him walking calmly outside with the police. But no, he starts shouting and pulling away from the police for at least a minute. We're not talking something like him trying it for a second and they stung him. He was obviously looking for attention. And he's probably gonna try and twist it to make the cops look like they were abusing their power. If I were one of those cops I'd have tased him too. It obviously didn't scar him for life because he recovered before he was out the door.

Maybe if his stupid ass would've shut the fuck up for three seconds they could've told him why he was being detained.

It could have been a simple procedure of letting him listen to Kerry's response.

He didn't want to hear Kerry's response. Kerry tried twice to answer but the bitch kept yelling and whining.

He totally brought it on himself. It was completely staged. Some of you are so blind in your hatred of 'The Man' that you can't see when you're being taken for a ride.
