holy shit,i forgot they did that!
  • I think Dilana totally butchered that song. Was a fan till this week... I have loved that song since childhood and her performance just didn't do it for me.
Actually the whole show was a little on the boring side tonite. Tivo'd it and found myself fast forwarding quite a bit. If I was a voter at all I probably would pass on this week.
Oh and yes, Storm sucked as well.

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

I like her voice, and would buy her CD. I was all for her, until a couple weeks ago when she wrote that song and it was totally brutal...that same time, Ryan was amazing, and moved up a peg in my books.

what do you expect from an accoustic set? This was about exposing flaws in their voices, pushing limits and seeing if anyone could shine. Accoustic songs show these flaws easier than plugged play. If they wanted a staight out roof blower, they would let the contestants pick any song.

No the night's best line was "classic rock anthem Cats in the Cradle"...
in what bizarro universe is that easy listening song a "rock anthem"?

So after last night, the bottom 3 should be:
    Storm, Storm and Storm.

Ok it will be Patrice (she could stand on her head and spit nickels and she'd end up bottom 3, the phone voters clearly hate her), Storm and it may be Zarex, though I thought she sounded her best last night...problem is I don't see Supernova as a Flamenco band playing only Mexican cantinas.

My prediction of the bottom three is Storm, Patrice, and possibly Zayra. I think either Patrice or Zayra will go home.

I really liked Ryan's performance last night...he and Magni have been my favorites for weeks now and Ryan has a habit of making me like songs I previously did not. Lukas did a pretty good job with a horrendous song.

What the hell is with all the Dilana love? I can't stand her! Especially after she confronted T Lee and told him to just pick her right now(thats in the online webisode)
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

Last night I thought Patrice's voice actually sounded better than ever. But for whatever reason it didn't make any difference with to the dimwit judges or the audience and it won't with the voters. And she will go home and it will be for the best because she just looks so unhappy to be there. I think she's aged about 10 years since the show started, kind of like the president alwyas gets gray hair and wrinkles after 12 months in office.

This may be my cultural ignorance but is there any Spanish language song that doesn't sound like a cornball soap opera theme song? I can't believe they heard Massive Attack in that, I just heard a tone-deaf Selena ballad. And the best she could do for a crazy outfit was a bra and a tablecloth for a skirt. I daresay my favorite Zayratron 3000 let me down last night.

Toby was my favorite. I thought Nipple Ring Legend Dave Navarro was going to rip him for the gimmick of playing bongos, like he did for the megaphone last week (both of which I kind of liked, I guess my tastes aren't as refined as the ex-Mr. Electra's) but he let it slide. Toby has sort of become my new favorite I think since even I have to admit Zayra isn't going to win. He's a good singer, he's good a good and stage presence, and best of all he's not an arrogant prick like that needle-toothed, skunk-haired, landing-strip-forehead, winged monkey from Oz Lukas.

Oh god I can't take Storm and her affectations. Those stupid facial expressions: the heavy lidded, wrinkly nose, tilted head, I'm so cool, look. The cornball "naughty girl" stripper come-on sayings. I thought I was going to fly to LA, find the theater, walk up to the stage, and slap her when said, "Check it: I was partying with these dudes for 48 hours in Vegas this weekend..." Check it: you're a bimbo.

When Gilby was sitting on the piano playing guitar, did anybody else think he looked like a muppet?

Sorry, but Dave Navarro IS a guitar great. I find his personality on the show annoying as hell, but there's no denying the greatness of his playing on Nothing's Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction. Seriously, listen to Three Days and Oceansize. If those two songs don't qualify as great guitar to you, then we have very different tastes in guitar playing.

As far as the Rockstar singers:

Magni - I didn't like him the first week, but I think he's been strong since then. I'd say he's probably got the best straight up rock voice on the show. He really blew me away with his solo performance of Dolphins Cry and I only thought that was an ok song before hearing him sing it. I agree he could probably do well with a PJ tune, especially a rocker like Porch or Corduroy

Dilana - Easily the best of the women. I like the "smoky" voice and she has a great stage presence. She's one of the few I might actually listen to even after the show is over.

Ryan - I hated him for awhile, but he has started to win me over. I don;t like Phil Collins' music at all, but I dug his version of In the Air Tonight. I also liked what he did with the Depeche Mode tune.

Lukas - Annoying to look at, but I think he has a strong voice and might be the best fit for the band.

Patrice - Just plain Boring. I love Message In a Bottle, but she just about put me to sleep with it last night.

Zarya - What is she still doing here? She's the weakest singer (and has been since week one) and her style doesn't fit Supernova at all. I thought her original song was ok, but it wasn't really a rock tune, and why would you sing in spanish for an audition for a band whose music will be in English?

Storm - Good voice, hot, and decent stage presence, but I don't see her winning it for some reason.

Toby - This guy probably makes a great singer for a bar grade cover band, but I don't see him fronting an origianl rock band. Decent voice and ok stage presence, but nothing more. I did really like his Burning Down the House performance.

I have to say I do get annoyed by some of the arrogance from the Supernova guys. Seriously, Gilby was just a hired gun for Guns N' Roses. He's never done anything really impressive that I know of. He was just a fill in rhythm guitarist, never even wrote anything with the band. Calling him a rock star is really a stretch in my opinion. Tommy Lee is more famous as a porn star than a rock star these days. I was never much of a Crue fan to begin with. The only time I ever really liked his drumming was on Doctor Feelgood. Newstead I think is probably the most artistically credible of the three, because I think he did contribute to Metallica's sound on And Justice.. and the Black Album, both of which were good. But again, he was really just a replacement for Cliff.

I heard they did say they didnt like the bongos, but wasnt part of the edit.

Also heard Patrice argued with them for a while about the song arrangement, saying she did change it up quite a bit. But editing shows them saying "you should have changed it up a bit" and she nods "ok". LOL Mark Burnett and CBS can steer this thing any way they want to.

Also heard that Storm and Magni both argued with SN over "nobody fighting for the chance to do an original". Apparently they argued that everyone wanted to and that they fought for 2 hours over it before it was decided, unlike how the editing showed only 2 people interested.

On that topic, I would have thought the people most passionate about singing an original might put a target on their back, like Ryan, saying stuff like "the one thing I would love to do is play MY song in front of a big audience, it would be a dream come true...... oh, and also I want to be the SN singer" (the "Phil" clause added at the end). Both Zayra and Ryan seemed like they are more excited about promoting their own work then making the band.

I agree, his guitar work on those 2 albums was awesome. That said, he's more of a reality TV bozo than a serious musician at this point in his career.

Though last night they did mention something about some album of his that came out yesterday...? Did anybody catch that?

I have learned a lot about Gilby Clarke since this show began. Such as, he played with Heart at some point (?) Also I randomly saw somewhere that he produced the new album by this metal band called The Bronx. And... uh... well , I guess that's about it. Oh I think he also played in Slash's Snakepit, heh heh.

Newstead is cool. He gets cred points in my book for leaving Metallica after they got really really terrible and then playing with Voivod.

Yeah we hear "Change it up, change it up" for like 10 weeks, so Lukas does something completely different for him, and they tell him they didnt like it.

  • I don't get why they love Toby so much either, I don't think he is a good fit for the band, and the thing is I don't hate him at all. I just don't find him that great. He seems a bit too frat boy for my taste.

Lukas is the JD Fortune of this season, if he wins I will be disappointed.

Yeah good point - it's all in the editing. I often wonder how many of the reaction shots that they show during performances were actually filmed during the performances.

  • I don't get why everyone thinks Dilana was so impressive last night. I mean, the show as a whole was not so great to begin with so it wouldn't have been too difficult to stand out, but I didn't think she did anything with the song and her act, for me, is getting so old. She has a deep voice and is tough enough to hang out with the guys, but that's it. Granted, she shouldn't go anywhere yet and has held her own among the better members of the group...but she is overrated and her performance last night was just boring.

Am I the only one here that likes Zayra? hahahaha! I have no idea why I like her, but I do! I think that she has a fantastic voice (she's very Bjork-ish)...I know that doesn't fit Supernova, but for some reason I like her!

Storms sucked so friggin bad last night, it's not even funny! I liked her voice from day one, but her stage presence and personality are so unbelievably painful that I would rather strangle myself than see her "crazy eyes" one more time!

Lukas....I can't decide if I like him or hate him! He's okay....I think he should stick around a little longer, but no way in hell should he win this competition! He is too Billy Idolish!

Magni I did not like at first, but I loving more and more with each episode! I think he will definitly make it to the final two!

Dilana I love! I know some of you are getting sick of her, but she is so natural and comfortable on the stage and it's fun to watch! I do love her voice and how unique she is!

Patrice does have a great voice, but just pretty boring!

Toby I think is adorable! I did not like Burning Down the House last week, but I really liked Salsbury (sp?) Hill last night!

I am not a Ryan fan at all! It's a shame because the last couple of weeks he has gotten better, but there is just something about him that I can't stand! Like others have said in this thread, he just looks so uncomfortable on stage!

Did I get everyone???? BTW, I totally hated Josh and I'm thrilled he is gone! I love that he is a PJ/Eddie fan, but that's all I liked about him! Jill did a great job on Mother Mother, I thought!

Funny you mention this... true story, I was driving today and had Nirvana playing... "Come as you are" comes on and immediately skip the track... but WHY? Why did I just do that without hesitation? That was/is one of my favorite Nirvana tracks, I love that song!

Oh no.... Josh has RUINED the song for me, at least temporarily until his image erases itself from my brain Thats amazing, I can't get Josh's performance out of my head, the way he sang it!

THANK GOD he's gone or I would literally not watch his performances of songs I like. The power he had, without me knowing it, is scary.

THat waas the low point of the season bar none. He should be barred from listening to Nirvana for the rest of his life for that. The wink, the smile... UGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!

Sorry it's been ruined for you, man. I haven't even tried to listen to any Nirvana since this show has started. I've noticed that they've finally given Cobain's corpse a rest for the last few weeks. Hopefully that trend will continue.
