first off,i don't see a woman as the singer for this band at all...sorry i just don't.you have guys from metallica, motley crue, and guns n' roses and i just don't see any woman singing for them.
that leaves the guys.the only one who has the total package is lukas.the other guys have good voices but mostly look like old navy models.0 -
well, than look forward to tracks 1-4 sounding the same, a soft song, 6-10 sounding the same, and a soft song to close it out. I haven't heard anything from Lukas that would make me think he can do anything different vocally.
Even if you like his voice and vocal style, can he do anything else?0 -

I agree... too many people following the competition are making such a big deal out of voice "range" and stuff. Its not American Idol, trying to find the next Celine.
If someone can get up, belt out rock tunes and entertain, thats what they need. They dont need Taylor Hicks. Many (most) major rock acts arent hugely successful because of their lead singers "range".
People say stuff like "Dilana has no range, she has the smoky, stevie nicks-ish one tone voice".... thats a PROBLEM? lol. I could listen to her rendition of songs for hours before I could listen to Patrice or Jill or Toby or Magni using their generic "range" singing voice. I love PJ partly because I enjoy EV's "sound" and voice. I don't care if he can belt out notes like Celine Dion or Mariah Carey or Boyz 2 Men... I like his sound and the way he delivers his songs. Fuck "range"...................

I really didn't like her last one. I think 90% of it was the song though, I knew ahead of time I hated the song and was hoping she would change it, she didnt though.... the other 10% was her bouncy delivery and cowgirl pants/country music feel to the performance.
I'll pretend that didnt happen though, and hope she gets back to what she did before next week...................

Did Dana do her tattoo herself? That sorry piece of crap looked like a prison tattoo. Pathetic. I'm glad they voted her goony ass off. It's really a shame they couldn't get rid of all three of those losers, though.
Two big surprises from last night's episode: One, Zayra didn't even make it into the bottom three. She is slowly but surely becoming America's freaky sweetheart, just as I hoped. Second, the mansion has a keg-erator! There was a shot of Lucas filling up a pint glass from a tap, then they pulled back and showed the keg-erator in all its glory next to the pool table. That's sweet. No wonder everybody cries when they get voted off.10 million dune buggies comin' down the mountain0 -

yeah I was shocked that with the tattoo artists likely available to these guys, and the input from her multi-tattoed housemates and interviewers, that a seemingly pen-drawn TREBLE CLEF was the end result.
Jill and Zayra have no hope in hell, but it was time for Dana to go...................

Ha! I thought the same thing! I looked at it and said, "Jeezus... that's drawn on with a pen! That's not even a real tat!" Of course, I don't have any tats myself, so I'm no expert. But that sure looked phony."Tried to walk, found a severed ... Matt???"0 -
I have more than a little ink myself and was a little disappointed with it. Take a look around at all the girls on the show and that's what she comes up with??? Probably will be the only one she ever gets . A "token" tattoo if you ask me.PJ FANS ROCK!!!
Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

And maybe I'm not an expert in the process, but I thought a fresh tattoo was going to not look perfect the first couple of days afterward. Isn't it going to be a little more puffy around the pattern? Maybe even some blood spots from the needle?"Tried to walk, found a severed ... Matt???"0 -

Yeah it should have been covered with scabs & stuff right? Though maybe she just got it and it hadn't had time to get scabbed over... plus, hers just had a thin line and didn't cover any thick areas, so maybe there wasn't that much trauma to the skin. It did look a little swollen.
It didn't even look like the straight lines were straight or the circular parts were perfectly circular.10 million dune buggies comin' down the mountain0 -

I'm not talking about "range" at all. I'm talking about singing styles. Lukas has one from what I've seen(one which is very average imo), which is going to limit what kind of album that they could make.
Maybe its just personal preference, but my two favorite singers ever are Layne Staley and Mike Patton. Layne had a different voice for every album, and Patton could do a bunch of different voices within an album, even within a song.
If a singer doesn't have multiple voices, he has to have a distinctive one or two- bluemonkey's list of bands it worked for all had really good singers with distinctive styles. Lukas has a kind of generic growl that will grow real tiresome real quick.0 -
Dana's tattoo should be puffy, but they were such thin lines that we might just not have been able to see whatever puff was there.
I can't understand how Zayra was not in the bottom three. Even though some of her performances were weird enough to get noticed, her performance Tuesday was utterly awful.
I'm not sold on Lukas. I think he has to do a Marty Casey turnaround and push himself to get rid of the restricting his voice thing if he's really going to go anywhere. Otherwise, he's pretty limited in what he can do.
Jill's annoying. I've been saying it since the very start, I'd love to see her go. She picked a great song last night, but still.0 -
I cannot believe that Dana is gone and Jill Gioia is still there. She is awful, oversings everything, why the hell didn't she go last night?0

Yeah I'm not referring to anyone here on PJ forums... its more the shows forums that have people complaining about range and stuff...many holdovers from the INXS/JD Fortune show that were more into an INXS style of performer, not a ROCK singer.
I agree on Lucas... while I usually enjoy his stage show and his "growl" singing style at some parts, he will need to show that he has more to his voice in the coming weeks. He is probably the best male option for this band in terms of presence and style, but after 5 weeks he does have to show he won't "growl" his way through every song. If he does that he becomes the front runner again. If thats all he's got, then no way does Jason let it happen.
The growl would wear on me... Dilana's smoky voice doesnt, especially because she has shown she can sing hard rocking tunes, softer songs, and hit higher notes when needed. She has also hardly lost a lyric singing while running/bouncing/headbanging/tamboureening/moving through the crowd etc... And of course her perfomances are often on a different planet from the rest (other than Zayra of course, who is literally on a different planet so thats not really fair)...................

Yeah, he really hasn't shown more than the growl. If you go back and listen to Ten, Eddie's range was a lot more limited than it is now - in fact he growled and howled a lot more than he sang. I'm not suggesting that Lucas the monkey-faced boy is in Eddie's league or anything. I don't really know what I'm suggesting; I just wanted to point out that Lucas isn't much of a singer and that he has a face like a monkey.10 million dune buggies comin' down the mountain0 -
I thought for sure they were gonna give Patrice the ax. But i didnt think Dana was going to go too far either...she's inexperienced. Jill isnt bad when she tones down. She did a great job with that Heart song. These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.0

Jill definitely isn't a rock singer though..the fact that the one thing she has done good on was from Heart's pop era drives that point home.I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.
