you speak from fear and nothing else. that's what drives humans to commit murder in the name of justice.

I have friends who are pro-death penalty, and I still can get along with them, because we can be respectful of each other's beliefs. You obviously can't do that. I think it's kind of sad that you think you know a person based on what they say on a message board. Now who's living in a fantasy world?

    true.
it probably was not the best response on my part.
excuse me for being slightly humorous and sarcastic.

    good question.
    bp is big oil.
i do not like big oil.
do the big shots of bp rape and torture children for sexual gratification while digging their eyes out?
    probably not..

do bp executives swim in money, greed, and stupidity?
    yes they do.

    have they ruined an ocean?
    yes they have.

has bp and other oil companies destroyed lives, both human and marine animal?
    yes they have.

it is terrible in the gulf of mexico.
but it is not cold blooded rape and sexual torture.

to me death caused by greed far outweighs death caused by mental sickness ... 11 people died on that rig ... countless will develop illnesses from trying to clean the shit up ...

pro-choice means the choice for the individual, not the state. you can't combine the two. and argue all you want about "the baby's choice" but it's a fetus, not a baby yet. I personally can't fathom ever making the choice to abort a pregnancy with my wife, but I won't support stopping someone else from making that choice if they feel they need to.
Then I'm Pro-choice for the death penalty. Should a state choose to have it I'm all for them having that choice.

I give each individual in the state the right to choose...vote on it.

get it over with and be done with it.
i do not know 1 single person who would volunteer to be a torture chamber operator.
i am positive 139 million ppl would blow his crazy skull to pieces.

Do you think torture is wrong only because you don't think there's anyone who would want to do it?? What about the loved ones of the victims? What if it would make them feel better? Even if they don't want to do it, I'm sure one of the people you've been talking about would be happy to do it. So why not let them? Regardless, how does having no one to do something necessarily make it wrong?

good always, every single time will prevail over the evil of mankind.

I think once we stoop to their level then evil has already won. We have not only failed to protect the good, but we have just laid down and handed it over. I can tell you that I (and many others) don't want our "good" protected by people who think we must use evil to protect it.

I have a question for you: How do you feel about state-sanctioned torture? If someone has kidnapped a child, raped and tortured her, and made a bag out of her skin, do you think it's okay to torture that person before we kill them?

    No

showing me numerous examples of psychotic individuals would not change my mind ... because nothing changes ... again, evil manifests itself in evil ways ...

consider the executive board of BP who basically allowed for this ecological disaster to happen ... to me, they are more evil than the individual you profiled ... the person you showed is sick in the head ... the executives at BP are just greedy ... i don't see anyone saying we should kill them ...

Cosmo just made a good point in the abortion/death penalty thread. If we EVER kill just one innocent man, aren't we (or the state, or the executioner, or someone) murderers? I don't think "oops" stands up well in court for non-state-sanctioned killers; this shouldn't be any different.

Everything not forbidden is compulsory and eveything not compulsory is forbidden. You are free... free to do what the government says you can do.
