i will tell you what i murder.
i murder the green buds i inhale almost on a daily basis.
i can kill a bong hit faster than you can blink your innocent little eyes.

i do not kill flies, ants, or any other bugs.
no spiders are smashed in my home ever.

i sleep like a baby dreaming of cloud castles in the sky.

My pickup has killing approximately 60 birds in 2 years. I once got seven in one week, but so far I've only hit one this week. For whatever reason, they like ambushing me at the last second by attacking the front of my truck. So far the truck is undefeated.

But to make up for it, I purposely avoid hitting bunnies and squirrels.

in the house, when necessary (like if catching it to put it outside is too difficult).

and yes, I recently doused 3 anthills in my yard with some white powder so they don't overrun and carry my daughters away.

last summer a roommate left his window open and a million flies invaded.

he bought a fly swatter and one day smacked a bunch of the buggers in the kitchen. i then went to the living room with a glass of water and got on my computer....i reached over for my water and took a sip and as i pulled the glass away i saw out of the corner of my eye....a fucking fly floating in my glass!!

So, back to the topic at hand, I was thinking about the argument so many pro-death penalty people make to the anti-death penalty people - that if one of our loved ones was murdered, we would change our minds and want to see the murderer killed. Aside from the fact that many people have experienced the murder of a loved one and still not wished death upon the murderer, so the pro-death penalty argument is not true in these cases, what about the cases where this does happen - where the families suddenly change their minds and want the murderer killed? I actually think this is an important argument AGAINST the death penalty, not for it.

People frequently believe something is wrong and would never want to do it, but then get caught up in their emotions and do things they regret. The way to limit this is to limit the opportunities we have to do things we think are wrong. For instance, I don't want to shoot anyone, so I got rid of my gun. With a gun, it's possible that I might shoot someone out of fear or anger, which I think is wrong and would regret later. Without a gun, that is not a possibility. I think it's the same for the death penalty. We need to decide what's right and wrong when we're thinking rationally, not leave our options open for life and death decisions to be made out of fear or anger. Isn't the ability to think and act rationally one of the main characteristics that supposedly makes us better than other animals?

Yes. You can't take away the option for abortion anyway, like you can take away the option for the death penalty or shooting someone. (I don't mean "can't" as in "shouldn't"; I mean it's not possible.) So I don't think this line of reasoning can apply. If you want to discuss abortion further, though, we should probably do it in the other thread.

But as for this line of reason regarding the death penalty, I realize that plenty of people think we should have the death penalty even when they are thinking rationally instead of emotionally. I'm just saying this is yet another reason why the, "You'll want to have that option if your loved one is ever murdered," argument to anti-death penalty folks is not a good one.

I obviously can't say for sure, as I didn't know MJ, but my personal opinion was that he was not a child molester. He was a child himself. He was like an innocent kid thinking that having a sleepover was ok, because all they were really doing was telling ghost stories and shit like that.

it's the fucking pathetic gold digger parents of those kids that came up with the stories that made them millions in the settlements.

  • that's the whole ticket right there. Being someone who has dealt with mental illness myself (please try to be respectful :) ), I have a tendency to think that just like animals, many of these people can't control themselves either. They literally have malfunctions in their wiring. Not their fault. So killing them is no better than putting down a dog that was born aggressive in nature, and then killed by those who deem them to dangerous and not worth it. Telling someone they are not worthy of life is not my call. Not ANYONE'S call.
