"WTF was I singing???" Realizing lyrics of songs you've sung for ages
Have been watching a lot of "Pluto t.v." lately, the decades music channel, with 70s, 80s & 90s videos in particular. Recently saw The Knack's "My Sharona" video. I've known all the words for as long as I can remember, but something about watching the singer sing the lyrics as I sung them, I suddenly caught lines in the…

"I saw them in 19XX, and it was too late even by then"
I have an acquaintance, who when I told him I was going to see Rolling Stones this summer said "I saw them in 1976, and it was too late even by then". What artists have you seen when you felt it was "too late even by then", and why? I GO FIRST I saw KISS in 2022, and it was too late even by then because it was not the…

What song was that in Nashville?
It was playing on the sound system right before the guys took the stage. Female vocals. Liked it and driving me nuts not being able to figure it out.

Your favorite demo.
Jumping off of Renfield's post in another thread, let's try this: What is you favorite demo? Tough call, but I'm going with Blake Babies "Rain" demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5krORg1Z4g

If you had to name one (and only one) favorite live recorded piece...
...what would it be? (Just one song, piece or medley. i.e., one cut) I was thinking about this today. Tough choice. Something by Hendrix? The Dream Syndicate? Pearl Jam? Neil Young and Crazy Horse? Sun Ra?So many choices. But if I had to list just one, it would be "My Generation" from "The Who, Live at Leeds" (especially…

When the CD and LP cover differ. Examples?
Just noticed that Håkan Hellströms beloved debut "Känn ingen sorg för mig Göteborg" have different covers for the LP and the CD. CD: LP: It made me think of Oasis Familiar to Millions, which used different colors for the LP/CD/Minidisc/DVD: Any other cool examples from the history of albumcovers?

Free Briston Maroney Tickets (2) for TONIGHT
I got covid (again) earlier this week and forgot I had a show until today. He is playing a sold out show at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA. I listed them for sale this morning with no bites, so as long as I can transfer them I am happy to do so. He is fantastic. Cheers

Jon Batiste from the Colbert show
Has anyone ever seen Jon Batiste live? I remember being completely captivated by his performance at the Colbert show especially during the commercial breaks. He is playing a run here in NYC in September and want to check him out. If anyone else has seen him live outside or the Colbert show I'd be interested in reading…

This one's done.
Over the last couple of years (including being immersed in one now, Moon, by Tony Fletcher), I read some really fine books relating to The Who. A couple of them pointed out something that fascinates me which is that one of the things that made The Who unique was that you had a guitar player who played his instruments like…

The one letter music challenge.
OK, here's one that will perhaps be a little easier for those of us are a bit OCD and like to alphabetize and organize stuff. You get to keep all the music you have- vinyl, CDs, downloads, whatever- but only associated with one letter in the alphabet- specifically, artists by the first letter of their last name, and bands…

When Jack Johnson opened for Ben Harper...
I was diggin' in some boxes today and found an envelope of concert stuff (ticket stubs, stickers, setlists, passes) from 2002-2003. Smiled when I found a setlist and a call sheet (schedule the band puts up for that day/venue for load in, meals, soundcheck & show) for a June 2003 show at the Mann Music Center in Philly. I…

FS 2 tickets for Black Keys Saturday 9/3 in Cincinnati
I tested positive for Covid this morning so I won’t be able to make the show. The tickets are in Section 800 row JJ. They were $79 each plus fees when we bought them. I would sell them for $90 or BO. I can transfer the tickets to your TM account.

Workday Time Killer - WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CONCERT?
Mine was the J.Geils Band at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles (UCLA) in March 1980. I was 15 at the time, so transportation was always an issue.....I had to limit my concerts to venues not too far from home. On some occasions, someone's parents would be nice enough to drive us!

fiona apple
this chick can sing! love her album 'extraordinary machine.' just recently got into her stuff. it's a shame that she isn't as popular as people such as amy winehouse, because she's as talented, if not more. There's a level of complexity in her music that's rare to such a style. prolly why i never hear her on the radio,…

Coldplay's A Rush of Blood To The Head 20th anniversary Atmos Mix
If you love this album as much as I have these past 20 years, you have to get your ears on this new Atmos mix released this week. The band has said this album nearly broke them up, I don't seem to ever recall why though.
