Nikki Sixx: Pearl Jam is "one of the most boring bands in history"

No mention of sexism here, just a joke at your preference, musically.mrussel1 said:
Agreed, they're all equally terrible.F Me In The Brain said:
Opinions are like assholes, we all have one.Go Animal said:Nikki Sixx wrote 3, maybe 4 great songs, Vince Neil can't (and could never) sing, Tommy Lee sure can't either (decent piano player, tho), and I have nothing bad to say about Mick Mars, or any of the other Crue-verse musicians. That being said:Poison > CrueExtreme > CrueKick Axe > CrueMr. Big > CrueL.A. Guns > CrueQuiet Riot > CrueDavid Lee Roth > CrueEnuff Znuff > Crueearly (and later) Pantera > CrueNot gonna compare Pearl Jam to Motley Crue. That'd be like comparing a ribeye steak to McDonalds. You compare McDonalds to Wendy's, Burger King, and White Castle
None of those listed are better, but I'm guessing you know that and were looking for a reply

I don't think PJ is high art. I do think Motley Crue and plenty of the other hair bands were sexist and degrading to women. I don't have a problem with anyone calling it out. I think it should be called out. They were dirt bags. PJ wasn't perfect, but they weren't dirt balls.F Me In The Brain said:The best part is reading PJ fans pretending like their favorite band is some high art/innovator, or something.

I'd like to think so. 80s bands in particular built their whole persona around misogyny. While bands like the Stones have gone too far on occasion (Stray Cat Blues as an example), it didn't feel like their raison d'etre.F Me In The Brain said:
OK. Do you say the same about other bands who did the same thing?mrussel1 said:

I don't criticize the junkies as much. That's a personal issue and demon. I'd have to eliminate my whole jazz collection.mickeyrat said:mrussel1 said:

Just want to add to the discourse that if you want those Dirty Frank-esque nasty riffs and that funky beat and lyrics that are not like salad --
-- then Vince Neil away from Mötley Crüe is something not to be missed:

If PJ is not "high art", Motley Crue music is a finger painting done by a Golden Retriever.
Generic riffs, dumb superficial songwriting for mouth breathers, and the same tired personalities that went stale 35 years ago.0 -

Its good that Vince can mostly grunt the sounds to approximate singing the lyrics though.
