I think Ed called out girls, girls, girls because at that point MC (and a lot of MTV) was about the girls and flash, and not about the music. I can appreciate what MC did. The first time I saw live wire I was like what the fuck is that. Not necessarily my cup of tea, but I appreciated that they were taking it to the next level. I like some of their stuff up to shout at the devil.  And hey if you are into the glam, the spinning drum kits, Mick Mars metal guitar sound, flame pots and all that stuff, Id bet MC was very entertaining for you. I saw the Theater of Pain tour, and it was entertaining but not my preference musically (free tickets).

Nikki Sixx wrote 3, maybe 4 great songs, Vince Neil can't (and could never) sing, Tommy Lee sure can't either (decent piano player, tho), and I have nothing bad to say about Mick Mars, or any of the other Crue-verse musicians.
    That being said:
    Poison > Crue
    Extreme > Crue
    Kick Axe > Crue
    Mr. Big > Crue
    L.A. Guns > Crue
    Quiet Riot > Crue
    David Lee Roth > Crue
    Enuff Znuff > Crue
early (and later) Pantera > Crue

Not gonna compare Pearl Jam to Motley Crue. That'd be like comparing a ribeye steak to McDonalds. You compare McDonalds to Wendy's, Burger King, and White Castle ;)
Opinions are like assholes, we all have one.

None of those listed are better, but I'm guessing you know that and were looking for a reply

    👋

    Agreed,  they're all equally terrible.

Eddie is getting a TON of publicity because of this.  I mean he’s trending.  Was it all by design? With his new album and tour? Makes ya think.

Isn't that more than he has ever communicated with the Tenclub when there has been issues?

I understand there are no famous people to @ on here, but my advice would be to use the energy and the 140 x2 characters on that instead.
Not to mention bad form from Tim since Eddie started this whole thing and Sixx was just defending his band (as one would expect anybody to do)
Everyone on here railing against Motley and Sixx should realize their guy is the one who threw the first and totally unnecessary sucker punch. He could have easily made his point without singling out any particular band. Between ticket prices, Platinum tickets and now this, 2022 is off to a shameful start for Vedder.
Actually Sixx should have ignored it. Eddie was talking about 30 years ago. Big fucking deal.

  • I think the context of the interview was how certain bands (especially hair metal bands like Motley Crue) objectified women in their lyrics and music videos.  Eddie has 2 daughters and has always been vocal for women's rights.  I think even fans of their music can understand that argument.
I feel like this important point is getting lost in all this.

I think what Eddie said is pretty clear. I don't think any point is getting lost.

Yes. The marketing strategy for Eddies new album must have been centered around saying something negative about a 80s glam band. A strategy as old as time.

(I think capitalizing "TON" is to overstate the publicity he gets for this.)

The best part is reading PJ fans pretending like their favorite band is some high art/innovator, or something.
    A rock band.
Being critical of another rock band.

I don't think PJ is high art.  I do think Motley Crue and plenty of the other hair bands were sexist and degrading to women.  I don't have a problem with anyone calling it out.  I think it should be called out.  They were dirt bags.  PJ wasn't perfect, but they weren't dirt balls.

OK.  Do you say the same about other bands who did the same thing?
(Or so the same thing, still?)
