I am disturbed. Here is maybe the most beautiful and big squirrel I have ever seen.... along with a massive fucking rat. :tired: This is right next to my apartment building, below my balcony. Noooo!

Odd that they are cousins.  Squirrels are cute and mostly harmless but I have an absolute hatred of wild rats (partly due to several hundred dollars of auto damage a few years ago from rats).  I saw a small dog on campus early one morning at one of the colleges I worked at in the early 80's.  When I got closer I realized it was a huge rat.  Head and body were easily 30 cm long.   Freaked me right out!

But that said, at one time in my life, the only pets I was able to keep were small animals.  I had pet rats a few times and a mouse once (they only live a couple of years) and they can be surprisingly fun and easy to keep.  Mine used to ride on my shoulder or sleep in my lap like a cat when I watched TV.  But I must say, I'm far happier now having a cat!

Wow!  That rat is a good size.  Reminds me of the one max killed in our backyard about a month ago.

There are at least 4 pups (the one above is the biggest) ... they were just exploring for one of the first times in their lives that day after a long break of unseasonably cold weather.  That one is the scout.  There is a little runt who could star in a Disney film.

I hadn't seen them for over a week but today I spotted the mother out hunting and I think she moved the den to a more secluded area on a hillside a few hundred yards away.  If the weather is nice I might grab my binoculars and set up a blind.  I have a Nikon that has an insane 200x optical zoom.

Haha, I’m guessing “wa pow pa pa pow pa pow” :)
I see grey foxes around our neighborhood, and rarely a red fox when I am out at the ranch!  Neat animals.

Found this little fella on my kitchen counter.  He was exhausted, so I picked him up and put him on the deck table along with some water.  He ended up staying the night resting up and was gone by mid-morning.

Perhaps she did survive Rob.  It took our little guy quite a while to recoup.

awww, what a cute family Brian.  Nice to see that they didn’t take the whole lane.
