What Mickey said. It is not accepting and condoning. It's more about giving up fighting against symptoms.
Speak to your psychologist about ACT and whether or not he/she thinks it could be of benefit to you.

as a good friend says in AA , you don't have to like it, love it or roll around in the grass with it  but accept it you must.

So, ok it is what it is. And I dont like it.

I decided to go back to work and end my retirement.  When I retired, anxiety was kicking my ass...I am happy to say that with a little counselling and Cannabis every day has paid off handsomely.   I'm telling you Cannabis kicks anxieties ass.  You may have to try a few different strains...but with Cannabis that great part...experimenting.  Just be mindful of who you are buying it from.  Some Cannabis companies in Canada have had issues and some strains have been recalled...that is if you have not consumed it all...

I was going to post here  this week but i didnt want  to bring anyone down. I tried  to suffer in silence.
All i am is a complete mess now.  Ive been turned down any further  help from the mental health service and feel like giving up. There is nowhere  to help me now.
They all say they cant offer any treatment. I feel worthless.

    Sorry to hear Rob.
You won't bring anyone down. This is why this thread exists, so you can reach out.
Why did they turn you down?
Have you thought about trying to find a psychologist who specialises in health anxiety? Many psychologists offer Skype sessions now if you cannot physically attend due to distance.

Did the program work for you?  My brother went to rehab 3 or 4 times and tried AA ... It did not work for him.  The success of these rehab clinics is pretty low, AA does not have a great success rate.  Most rehab clinics use the 12 step program.   From what I understand the program was delivered in the '20s and is virtually unchanged since.  If that is true, you will never convince me that it can be all that good.  Times change, people change, our lives are far more busy and complicated.  Would you send kids to a school with 1920's curriculum?

Got Anxiety? Study Finds Cannabis Strains to Try, or Avoid
    https://www.leafly.ca/news/science-tech/got-anxiety-study-finds-cannabis-strains-to-try-or-avoid

The article states that anxiety is best treated with low doses of THC and CBD.

You are at a disadvantage in the UK because it's not legal.  I'm not sure the illicit market grows low THC or CBD.

Medical Cannabis should be legal everywhere.  It is really frustrating that a bunch of scumbag politicians throughout the world want to deny people at least the medical benefits.  Unfortunately, England has Trump junior as the PM.  I am just guessing, I doubt the Cons in the UK would do the right and legalize.

But if you can access medical grade Cannabis with low CBD and THC give that a try.

I love experimenting...I used to buy from Tilray out of BC that 30% THC...that was good shit.

Keep trying.  I think you will get to that happy place.  It may take time.  Anxiety is terrible, and the medicine for anxiety and depression does not always work...

    Goodluck to you...

Rob, Do you drink a lot of coffee?  Coffee is bad for people with anxiety.  Maybe see if there are natural ways to help you.

Marijuana increases anxiety for as many people as it relieves so be careful with that, people.
If you read Meltdown's article, Blueberry Lambsbread is listed on both the good and bad lists, which highlights the complicated nature of THC and anxiety.

You need to keep the THC and CBD low according to the article.  I believe the UK frowns upon Cannabis.  But like anything, it just may not for everyone...but I also put in the other work to get my anxiety down.  But pharmaceuticals do not always work with anxiety.

My hope is that Cannabis makes it into labs to see which strains work best for ailments.  I think it will.  But you raise an excellent point.  And for many, it is just a great high.

Keeping the inebriation level low is key, even hardcore stoners can get "paranoid" (anxiety, obviously) when they overdo it.

I smoke nearly every day, but I never get stoned because it gives me anxiety to get too high.
Sometimes I ride the line more than is good for me, a smarter man might quit altogether lol

first, it was offered via the book in 39.  it tells the collective story of the first 100 or so to get and stay sober. if it aint broke, whats to improve on?

not knowing your brothers story, I cant speak to what you seem to think doesnt work. I am going tk guess he didnt buy into the concept and do what is suggested consistently.

success rates are factually hard to judge as its all self reported. there are no master lists beyond individual group level. the courts, unable to do anything see AA as a panacea and order attendance, should those folks count toward success rates?

further AA doesnt proclaim itself as the end all be all in regards to alcoholism. the early members understood their limitations. the book is quite prophectic in some areas. guessing man would walk on the moon among other things, but makes it clear its meant for the hopeless and helpless and that medical science may well discover additinal trreatments. which has partially come to pass.

You seem to have an already closed mind to the concept.

so I'll close with a quote found in the book attributed to Herbert Spencer(in error)

There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments   and which cannnot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation.

    William Paley

as to your initial question.  I am 13yrs  4 monts and 12 days sober. sonething I could not seem to do on my own. there are any number of ways to get and stay sober. I dont know what they are. but this is working for me. allows me some peace and to live comfortably enough in my skin.

personally the method one uses to achieve sobriety  is secondary to the end result. but all methods require active participation of  the individual for any success.

I'm like you.  Smoke just enough to get good sleep.  Never get super high.  But Cannabis has helped me with nerve pain in feet.  Once I smoked every day that pain stopped.  I would say it felt like getting picked by a needle...now I rarely feel that.  I can go weeks and never feel that...

Is it just anxiety or anxiety and depression?  People in the medical are not always the most compassionate...all I can suggest is keep searching and hope you come across a person who will listen and believe you.  If means anything I believe you.  Have a couple people on speed dial who you can trust and anytime to talk to.  Talking helps.
