PURSUING HIGHER education opens a world of opportunities. Top quality higher education opens up even more.
According to data from the 2016 Best Countries rankings, a characterization of 60 countries based on a survey of more than 16,000 people from four regions, the United States has the best colleges and universities in the world.
The United States boasts top institutions such as Princeton University, Williams College, and Harvard University.
Coming up second was the United Kingdom, which is known primarily for the storied universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Notably, the only country in the top 10 Overall Best Countries that did not make this list was Denmark. Instead, Italy, which ranks 13th overall, was considered to have superior higher education.

Countries arranged by Number of Universities in Top Ranks
July 2018 edition
Most of the papers analysing ranking results only use the data from the top 500 universities, a sample that is clearly not very representative for most of the countries. For example, although there are countries where the whole set of their universities are in the upper category, others as important as the USA, that has a lot of universities in the elite, also shows over 2000 of its HEIs beyond the 5000th mark.
As we believe the experts should go beyond the Top 500 biased analysis, we provide here the tabla with the data by country that can be useful for economic-related analysis (July 2018 edition): Exactly 28077 universities from all over the world are included.

The OECD defined a country's adult education level as the percentage of people between the ages of 25 and 64 who have completed some kind of tertiary education in the form of a two-year degree, four-year degree or vocational program.
Most Educated county in the world: Oh Canada! 56.27% Nice work Del! I know it took you 7 years to complete a four year school but you did it!
The u.s. is 6 with 45.67%.
Sweden (just for spiritual and all those accessible free colleges): You guys don't crack the top 10. :( you guys come in at lucky #13 according to the graph.
I cross referenced with another article and it was the same: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/10-most-educated-countries-world-131200021.html
and then for the hell of it I went to a third site: http://www.usfunds.com/slideshows/here-are-the-10-most-educated-countries-in-the-world/#.W-eLqi--KqAI'll ride the wave where it takes me......0 -
Hey by the way... as for the latest theme about 'best music'... Led Zeppelin, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones are heavy weight contenders for the belt.
Where the US gets the nod (in my mind) is the depth they boast.

And they were playing rock & roll, a music genre born and created in the USA... coming out of another musical genre born and created in the USA, the blues...
Pretty much all of those bands were inspired and motivated by American music and American musicians, especially the blues... admired them, emulated them, covered them, and sometimes blatantly ripped them off, and they certainly have no issue admitting it.
USA! USA! USA! USA!Post edited by my2hands on0 -

Debatable.
You also have some universities and colleges that are not very credible as well, Scruffy. I'm not trying to rain on your parade because schools like MIT or Stanford are definitely awesome; however, there are many other schools that hardly qualify as 'higher learning' on the global scale.

I think great can mean lots of things.lots of areas compete against eachother.
At the moment the world is NOT great.
I avoid most news or t.v because I have issues but I'm saddened when I do catch a glimpse because critique and judging every moment and action of what others do has completely taken over .
I've 4 children from 1 year old to 20 years old ,I do not like the world they live in. Terrible attitude to eachother at schools
Nasty bullying where it's ok to shame someone on their looks but any mention of retaliation is punished more that the original act of nastiness.
I think the ship has sailed with this next few generations coming up and I for one am glad I won't be around to see it!
There that s what I see
