DMB - Crash. Very rare to find a 90s album that's AAA. The hi hat on #41 is eye openingPost edited by ambst95 on2003: 4/26 Pittsburgh, PA

Did you get the splatter or the 180 black? Funny you mention the high hat. There's a lot of debate around about the unusual sound of that on 41. Some people speculate that it was digitized because it sounds out of place. I think there was just a mic right there and then pulled back and blended back in.ambst95 said:DMB - Crash. Either way, the Splatter sucked and the 180 is beautiful. It is a material improvement over the CD.0 -
What's wrong with the splatter version? I've listened to it twice now, sounds good to me.Pine Knob Music Theatre - Jul 31, 1992 Crisler Arena - Mar 20, 1994

It has distortion in the right channel on sides C and D. It's very pronounced right when the record starts, heavy during Let you down and really bad during the closing stanza of Proudest Monkey. I bought two copies and they were both afflicted. If you are listening loud, critical listening and have good equipment, you can pick it up. I would think with headphones it would be very bad. It's on the Amazon reviews too.BIGDaddyWil said:What's wrong with the splatter version? I've listened to it twice now, sounds good to me.

But is has been acknowledged in other reviews that not all copies are affected, which is strange.mrussel1 said:

You don't think it's a sensitivity of equipment difference?MedozK said:

I picked up the 180g black copy. The splatter looked cool but I think I chose wisely after reading some of the reviews.
I agree with you on the mic. I think they mic'd it to grab that sound. It's just been hidden by the compression and brought to light with this remastering. It's a revelation from my cd from the 90s. Much better than UTTAD.Post edited by ambst95 on2003: 4/26 Pittsburgh, PA
