What other outlet do they have besides TM though? Tickets.com? Same racket, different name. Sure, they spoke out about TM, but the Supreme Court determined that TM wasn't in the wrong despite everyone who's ever bought a ticket to anything knowing differently. They fought for us, they lost. They tried to do it on their own terms and failed. We've all heard the horror stories of the 94-96 tours. Jeff even said himself that it almost killed their career. We all know TM still uses shady business practices (holding back tickets, reselling thru their own service) but at least they disclose all fees now. That's one of the things PJ was fighting for.
I agree. I am a veteran of those tours.... it sucked. but he asked the question and I answered.

Haha! Drank man! I love the short and sweet posts!
i have a lot of things i would like to post from my own perspective concerning the topic, but i prefer observing from afar. i wait until the post has more than 1-2 comments before i look again. that way, i can really get a laugh. i love pearl jam.
Seriously, complaining about duties....like Pearl Jam has any control over this. If you don't like the fees don't buy. Have you shipped anything from the USA to another country lately? The cost is up 3 or 4 hundred percent. They don't set the maila and shipping costs. If you expect them to eat labor costs for the fan you are silly. This is a business get over it.
The only reason I think this subject needs dialogue is because the band was so vocal about some of the things they hated, which they now do as well. When someone or something uses their fame to make a point and then without explanation reverses course, don't you feel that deserves calling out?
name one SPECIFIC thing the band spoke out against but now does.
TicketBastard
Yeah, but that's just a matter of fighting a good fight and losing the war. I feel bad for them about that one, not like they are hypocrites.

Agreed. hard to find places that don't do ticketmaster.. impossible now. I remember going to the show in New Orleans in 1995. It was in a remote high school football stadium in the middle some huge park. I was looking over my shoulder for the vampire Lestat.

Wasn't one of the Xmas singles from that show?
Yep. good call. "Sonic Reducer" with Joey Ramone. Very underrated PJ show from the classic period. It was so fucking hot that day though. and another thing about touring like they did at out of the way venues... they didn't have enough water for everyone up front where I was. they were pulling people out left and right. I bootlegged the show but all you can hear on some quieter tunes is people yelling for "water!!"

And I will wait patiently for you to name another major act that charges $80 for front of house seats.
Tool
Tool tours the eat coast seemingly once a decade and hasn't put out a record in 9 years
A long outstanding legal battle with their record label is why they haven't put a new record out. It's still going on. From what I've read, they have plenty of music put together to make an album, they just can't legally make it the way they would like to do it.
Dyer is correct and the legal battle is over, tool won and record should be done by end of the year. And for a band that barely tours, I've seen them over 23 times live. And I live on the east coast.
Edit- and their shows are structured that way over a tour because they have some background visuals that go with particular songs so they really can't switch up their sets. But when I saw them back in 2011 (?) Nokia theater LA, I got third eye for the first time. Was super stoked.

I mostly agree. I mean, I remember when someone got upset that Eddie mentioned a ham that a friend brought to a party because he's supposed to be a vegetarian.

Same here, but even then, sometimes people come up with the craziest expectations, even with the obsession taken into account. Like, sometimes I wonder if certain fans think Eddie is actually Jesus.
