The band has no control over people selling tickets for 2-3x face and making a profit. Pearl Jam gains absolutely nothing from aftermarket sales, and 'aftermarket sales' is not a concept the band invented.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250

GREEN DISEASE
Released: December 12, 2002
COMPOSER: Vedder
ARTIST: Pearl Jam
Lyrics
It's a disease,... and they're all green
It emanates from their being
A satiation,.. with occupation
And like weeds,.. with big leaves
Stealing light from what's beneath
Where they have more,...
Still they take more
Course I know,.. then I don't
There's a stowaway with my throat
It's deceiving...
I don't believe him
We can scream,.. out our doors
Behind the wall a fat man snores
In his dreams he's,...
Choking Ti leaves
Well I guess
There's nothing wrong with what you say
But don't sell me,
'There can't be better ways'
Tell the captain
'This boats not safe
And we're drowning.'
Turns out
He's the one making waves
I said
There's nothing wrong with what you say
Believe me
Just asking you to sway
No white
Or black
Just grey
Can you feel this...
World with your heart and not your brain?

The people around you likely didn't have 10C tix. Besides GA, club tix were mixed in with regular tix. I'm sure there were some 10C tix resold by 10C members after they picked them up too. 10C could take one more step and force people to pick up their 10C tix as they enter the venue, which would completely prevent anyone from reselling them, so 10C could do more. But still, 10C is pretty conscientious about 10C tix staying with 10C members at face value. If they catch anyone reselling (and they do) the person is banned from 10C.vzouzal said:
really cause most people around me at Wrigley paid hundreds and in some cases thousands a seat.PJ_Soul said:
There are simple ways around that, and 10C should definitely take advantage of those methods.... But 10C already prevents that for club tix.vzouzal said:cheap tickets, make it really easy to buy tons of blocks and they turnaround and sell for triple or more, while ensuring a full-house.

name one SPECIFIC thing the band spoke out against but now does.vzouzal said:The only reason I think this subject needs dialogue is because the band was so vocal about some of the things they hated, which they now do as well. When someone or something uses their fame to make a point and then without explanation reverses course, don't you feel that deserves calling out?

It's ironic that this song is off Riot Act, as in my opinion that was the end Pearl Jam BINC. and everything after is Pearl Jam AINC.vzouzal said:GREEN DISEASE

Green Disease has nothing to do with consumerism. It is about economic disparity between corportae CEO's and the people that work for them.Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall0

Doing a private event for Oracle was a bit weird.... then again, they donated the proceeds to charity (and played Green Disease while they were at it, which I thought was fairly hilarious). So I'm neutral at worst on that one.HughFreakingDillon said:

I'll admit the Grammy acknowledgement one confused me. but that might have more to do with other artists being involved in the packaging. or they have just softened on the issue. who knows.vzouzal said:

But the other ones are not specific.
are you saying that Pearl Jam are greedy? they have never been against capitalism. they have been against capitalism at the expense of others. pearl jam is not creating their merch in sweat shops in asia, or employing immigrants for less than minimum wage. remember, one message that pearl jam have often highlighted is the misconception that they hate america. they don't hate america or western culture. they just disliked economic injustice of the person. not sure how them making a few shirts for sale equates to that.
regarding commercialism, are you implying the band puts out inferior products/music for purely profit purposes?
