you said it all right there, you are 100% right... this is not cost of living/inflation increase
the band i follow the most is Phish, hell they allow everyone to record their shows with real external mics and stands, etc have since day 1 so that article that was linked about the reason eddie says prices went up is BS... since Phish came back in '09 after being off since '04 they only raised their face ticket price by $3 to only $50 per ticket. that is really cheap, not to mention their NYE show in Miami last year cost me $60 face, which is amazingly cheap.
the least overheard of a tour recently has to be the the Eddie solo tour which were $82 each ticket (w 10c) if i recall.
sure i could not buy the tickets but i am anyway because i can afford it, i just dont see why they are so much money.-Mike

So this is what it has come to. One guy complains about the fact that ticket prices are too high, even though he still paid the price for said tickets. Some people then pile on the guy with the age old adage of: if you don't like then then don't do it. Other folks come to the guys defense saying he has a right to speak his mind. 10 pages later it is still the same arguments over and over.
3 things are for certain:
1. If the worst thing all of you folks can complain about in this life is the price of concert tickets, you're doing alright. Seriously.
2. Venting complaints on an internet message board will accomplish nothing. If you want to do something about a perceived injustice, really take action. It'll make you feel a lot better if you try to change things rather than complain about it
3. Somebody actually paying money to see a GooGoo Dolls concert is probably the funniest thing I'll read all day long. Sorry original poster, it had to be said.

On my way into work I see a lot of eggs and coffee specials under $4 or $5... he didn't say bacon and eggs "breakfast" which would include other stuff. I'll maintain exactly what I said in the beginning. I work on Wall Street and i'd have to make an effort to find a place where I would walk in and order eggs for $9.500 -

The Phish example is perfect. They just played the garden for a flat rate face of $49.50. If Pearl Jam had the same ethical stance they had 10 years ago I'd bet they'd charge about that. Phish charging 49.50 pretty much ends the concept of Pearl Jam being a band that tries to keep it's ticket prices down for it's fans.0

Stop trying to rationalize it. Tickets are not cheap. Unfortunately, this means that more and more people are priced out of shows. By complaining about the prices, people hope they will encourage the band to reconsider its approach. The band will make its own business decisions, but its fans are its customers and it's totally appropriate for them to express their disapproval.

Well, you're dead wrong about that. We've seen the band respond more than once to concerns raised here on its fan club message board. It happened this week after the MSG presale fiasco. It happened last fall after the ticket mixup in Seattle. In both instances, concrete actions were taken in response to the complaints to rectify the situation.I gather speed from you fucking with me.0 -

My ability to afford it is not the issue, and I'm sure it's not the issue for many others who have expressed concern. Thankfully, I can afford to buy Pearl Jam tickets until I die, but an increasing number of other people can't afford it. For a lot of bands, that might not be a concern. Top regular tcket prices for Stink are in the $150-160 range depending on venue, unless of course you want to be in the first 15 rows in which case you have to purchase his "VIP package" which is over $300 per ticket (varies again, but averages around $330)
As for the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac...please...the Eadles were the first band to charge over $100 for a rcok concert ticket on their "Hell Freezes Over" tour, which was what 15 years ago...since then they'v only gone higher, capped out around $250 last time, Mac is similar, and you can guarantee you won't see good seats for the 2 together for less than 2 bills face.
The $92.05 is not the face, its with all the fees, face is what $74.50...Sting's $159.50 ticket at Concord CA becomes $185.50...double PJ (and he adds no fees to the $334.50 for first 15 rows, what a saint).This weekend we rock Portland0 -
