What a joke. At least U2 has overhead costs and Springsteen has a huge band. Whats PJ's reason?

I don't buy the bootlegs anymore, Ed sounds so crappy that half the time it ruins my memory of the show. 08 Boots and beyond are pretty much unlistenable to me. 05's still great. 06 kind of passable

    Vedder Fears Ticket Price Hike

    24 September 2007

PEARL JAM star EDDIE VEDDER fears he'll have to increase concert ticket prices after years of fighting to keep them low - because fans keep stealing his songs. The rocker was one of the leading voices against high ticket fees - and famously took on Ticketmaster in America - but now he feels downloading is killing music and he'll need to seek profits elsewhere. Vedder says, "A lot of people are getting your music without having to pay, and it's only $12. "I ordered eggs at a little restaurant in Seattle and it was $9.50. I was thinking, 'You can't spend two extra bucks for a record that you put your heart and soul into?' "I think the problem is to charge more for tickets, which is something we've always been abhorrent to do; either that or you're gonna have to start accepting sponsorships, or start selling your music to Viagra. "I'm not sure how we'll do it. I'm glad we gave money away when we did - when it came in from making records. We kind of spread it around and helped people in our community and abroad in different ways."

I don't think people complain about the price because it's too expensive. I think it's a matter of principal. It's sad to see PJ charge that much (and charge the same for the worst seat in the house as the best) when Radiohead, Green Day, Dave Matthews, and Metallica all charge in the $60 range.

    it's still below market value.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • It looks like Pearl Jam are turning into Capitalists! Interesting?? That seems like a very conservative concept. I bet George Bush would find this very amusing. I have no fault for them tickets for more money! They are a band and we are in America and everyone needs to live the American Dream.

No, what it is, is that you get lucky to get into shows in NY, Philly and Boston(or buy from stubhub) because there are about 10,000 seats that 300,000 people want. Virtually every other show can be easily had. That's what it is. And if you don't like that just buy bootlegs and the dvd's.

For the record I usually go to about 20 shows a year... from clubs to Stadiums. I can't remember the last time I spent $92 on a ticket. Actually I can, it was probably PJ at the Spectrum. Before that it was probably PJ at the Garden 08... I've already bought about 10 shows for 2010. PJ MSG being the most expensive. More expensive than DMB and Petty who are next in line.

Prob the only show I'll go to that will cost this much in 2010 will be if the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac tour together... I don't even think Sting solo costs this much.

Tom Petty wants $150 and you to buy a digital download of his mojo album. U2 soaked me for $275 bucks X 3 tickets.

What do you do? What exactly is your wage? Why are you worth it? Would you like to make a little more? If you do... well... green disease... yup... it appears to be a case of green disease.

Fukin people. Stay at home bitches. Pearl Jam is keeps their tickets lower than most- and most are not worth seeing. Do you consider them a bunch of shitbaggers that you should only pay a nickel to see? If so... don't go. And save your bitching for your colleagues and wife regarding how unfair life is.

No they don't dude and you people who say that do really sound silly. Sure they charge less than U2 and Paul McCartney and guys like that. But they charge way more than their contemporaries like, as I said earlier in the thread, Dave Matthews, Radiohead, Metallica, and Green Day. All four of those bands are just as popular as Pearl Jam....and they all charge like $30 less for tix.

I'm seeing him in hartford for under $50

These are the only bands I can think of who charge moere than PJ for their avg ticket price WHEN TOURING ALONE:

    Billy Joel
    Paul McCartney
    Madonna (Maybe)
    Springsteen (Maybe)
    u2 (Maybe)

It's 2010, this is what tix cost these days. Even the smallest, shittiest bands/venues get $30+ a ticket for anything. This is Pearl Jam @ MSG. The price is reasonable.

$92.05 really IS a lot for a concert tickets and much more than the majority of acts out there. I think the $75 for the shows I'm attending is a reasonable price but once you get into the $85 + range it really becomes hard to defend.
