Stranger... then stop going to cheap shows and go see a major headliner to gain proper perspective. Don't expect Pearl Jam to be cheaper than Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls and the Muppets.

Your stuck on a senseless loop. You've listened to nothing. They are a quality band and are charging much less than what they could still get. Be thankful that they don't truly fleece people- cause they'd get much more if they demaded it!

"Be thankful that they don't truly fleece people"

So this is the state of "Pearl Jam" in 2010...

30 bills. I've seen plenty of bands of equal or greater stature than PJ...
  • Then don't buy them. More for us.

So where exactly are the prices this much? Msg?

For kc and stl I paid 150 bucks for a pair of tickets (let's not forget that includes tm service charges)

The same price I paid the last 3 or four tours

    By my math that's 75.00

i probably would. and if i wanted front row, i'd go fight it out at a GA show.

apparently there are plenty of trust fund babies around here that can afford to fly all over the world to see a show, so im sure they could pay.

Interesting. I absolutely wouldn't. I respect Pearl Jam more for charging the same price for ANY seat in the house.

your reasoning is sometimes so skewed its unreal. People can afford it but they are bemoaning the rise in concert ticket prices... what is so bad about that that you post nonsensical reasoning? I can afford petrol, i can afford my local tax, my electricity and my gas bills... but whilst i can afford them its my right as a consumer to ask questions if the price of them has doubled in the past 5-10 years or so.

I'm the complete opposite on this. I for one can't believe they actually do this.

    Vedder Fears Ticket Price Hike

    24 September 2007

PEARL JAM star EDDIE VEDDER fears he'll have to increase concert ticket prices after years of fighting to keep them low - because fans keep stealing his songs. The rocker was one of the leading voices against high ticket fees - and famously took on Ticketmaster in America - but now he feels downloading is killing music and he'll need to seek profits elsewhere. Vedder says, "A lot of people are getting your music without having to pay, and it's only $12. "I ordered eggs at a little restaurant in Seattle and it was $9.50. I was thinking, 'You can't spend two extra bucks for a record that you put your heart and soul into?' "I think the problem is to charge more for tickets, which is something we've always been abhorrent to do; either that or you're gonna have to start accepting sponsorships, or start selling your music to Viagra. "I'm not sure how we'll do it. I'm glad we gave money away when we did - when it came in from making records. We kind of spread it around and helped people in our community and abroad in different ways."

Ed and his $9.50 eggs lol

I work on Wall Street and I'd have to go out of my way to find a place where eggs cost that much
    ...
Some of us don't eat at Egg McMuffins, like you do.
Yeah... an omlette or bacon and eggs breakfast will easily hit 10 bucks... unless you are a Wall Street hedge fund crimnal that's a poor tipper, too.

Eh, they're a little high but really, have you EVER left a show and felt ripped off? About fifteen seconds into the first song and I could care less about what the ticket cost.

i dont fault them for doing it that way, but maybe for the large venue shows it makes more sense to charge more, if that helps people see them. assuming they really have to charge so much.

it looks good that the front row people only pay 80 bucks for their seat, but looks equally crappy that the guy in the nosebleeds has to pay about the same. if they are just spreading the cost of tickets around instead of trying to keep them low, then that just sucks!

OK Mr. Logic... prices for everyone have gone up everywhere, that includes the cost of touring. Therefore shit costs more including for the Pearl Jam touring machine. You all want to pin it on the band like it's their fault they are choosing to not operate at a loss and make a profit. Cost goes up for them means cost goes up for us...
Totally skewed logic there...

this isnt how human beings work. im sick of this kneejerk response from the positivity nazis.

when you have a problem, first you SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT, then, if nothing happens, THEN you move on.

you dont just quit the moment something goes wrong. you MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO FIX IT.

shove your tiny violin up your ass.

The only thing that has gone wrong here is people failing to understand the simple business practice of passing on the increasing cost of operation to your customers.

you're crazy. i dont know why you keep bringing up this insane "incresed cost of doing business" crap. yeah, they've increased, no they havent increased that much. do you follow any other bands? it simply doesnt cost that much to put on a show as basic as PJ's. they charge because they can. not saying thats wrong but please stop pretending they are somehow forced into it.
  • The price is a bit high. But honestly I can't say I was more happy to hand over that money. I've always said that as long as ticket prices are under $115 I'm gonna buy them.

100% correct. Costs of everything have gone up and I am one of those people who moan about it, I question it, i want to know why? what i don't do is receive a credit card bill which states my interest has doubled and then shrug to myself and say "well the CEO of that company might need a bit more income this year" and thats that. My football season ticket has only went up each year by inflatation... yet they run the same operation year in year out... why hasn't the PJ ticket only went up by inflatation? it hasnt.. it's went up some 40-50% in the last 5-7 years... thats a huge fucking jump... gas, wages, bread, booms hair gels have not risen in costs that much... so why are we hit with a 40-50% hike in prices?

If my daughters swimming lessons went up 100% in cost over the last 3 years I'd write to the swimming facility and ask why... Your flawed, and many others in here, logic is that you say to people.. "don't go then" or "don't buy them".... but i want to, i can afford it and i love the band and their music... its fucking amazing... but that doesnt mean that me and others like me cannot ask pertinent questions about why the cost of a fucking ticket has went up so much over the years.

Well then I very much stand corrected. But I know I'm right about Radiohead and Green Day.

Radiohead I can back you up on, saw them in 08 and it was 56 bucks
