I'm not worried that Soundgarden getting back together will be a permanent thing. Plenty of bands get back temporarily. Green River did it a while ago for a few gigs for instance but are they together now - of course not! Sure Matt will work it out with PJ when they are on another one of their hiatuses, and just do the reunion with SG as a temporary thing. Some bands just like to get together for old times sakes, do some concerts for fun and that's all. I'm sure Matt will stay with PJ, they have too much life in them and lots more to do yet.
  • Anyone on here actually see Soundgardwn live? I did and like all the live recordings they weren't a great live act. I wouldn't mind seeing again but the live show wasn't their strong point. Cornells voice couldn't carry live at all. Same problem with Audioslsve but he sounded better with them. Maybe they'll get a better live tour sound production company b

I saw Soundgarden in 1992, 1994 and 1996 and I agree that Cornells voice wasn`t the best live then, but I saw Cornell solo live in 2007 and it was awesome. Never heard the Soundgarden songs better.

its good news indeed. and quite frankly i dont even need SG to support PJ at one gig. might be even better to have three individual shows of AIC, SG and PJ... This way one could enjoy Matt's magic twice in two full sets...

2010 shaping into really smtg extraordinary. gotta start saving more then!

I saw them in NYC at the Armory with 11 and Tad. Musically they were awesome but Cornell was struggling a bit vocally. I totally agree that this will have next to no effect on PJ. These bands are professional businesses now and I'm sure this has already been figured out amongst the players. Whether that means hiatus for PJ or just some limited Soundgarden shows.
I can't see them going back to previous drummers. I feel they would wait for Cameron.

yeah i saw them quite a few times in glasgow, and reading 1995, never had a problem with them live myself, was always shit hot...... and MENTAL. can't wait for the chance to see them again.. hopefully

Soundgarden has always been a tough one to nail down as far as live sound goes. All 4 of the early/mid 90's shows I saw were GA during the height of moshing and crowd surfing etc. I always left feeling blown away and yet listened to bootlegs from shows I had attended and was less impressed.

I am looking forward to hearing Jesus Christ Pose, Hands all over, Gun, Drawing flies live once again. Sweetness.

I bet Matt likes the idea of drumming for SG again. His drumming for SG is far superior to what he manages to do with PJ.

I agree, except what Matt has done on a number of PJ's songs that he's written with them (Grievance, Johnny Guitar, and a number of others) has been really good.

...and I'm sure Matt would like to change up what he's playing for a while, however brief.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

what a retarded statement.. matt's drumming in soundgarden isn't some boring ass generic drumming anyone can pull off.. its some serious stuff and if its not him drumming then its not going to be too great.

and if someone wants to link videos of jesus christ pose then please just link this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4ygBladNLo

There've been a few posters worried about CC's live vocals, as I said a few pages back and as Spin.. said a couple back - on his 2007 solo tour his vocals were the best I've ever heard live of ANY singer, so he either had a good day or he's maturing nicely. ;) So don't fret.

The key on his solo stint was they finally turned up his vocals so he doesn'ty have to scream over the rest of the band..(aka SG and Audioslave... everyone had equal amps)

If you have ever seen U2 in concert, you'll recognize that Bono's voice is amplified louder than the rest of the band..

Keeps these crooners from ruining their voice..

Hope they manage to sort out slots at HRC and Werchter!

  • I don't get why people still see Matt as "the new guy" He's been in the band longer than any other drummer (a full 11 out of 19 years) and before Boom was a member...so given that info, i think it's incredibly safe to say that Matt isn't a temp...so as for who will drum if SG reuinites (though HIGHLY unlikely) it would be when PJ isn't touring or they tour together so Matt can play both

    Hooray for Soundgarden!

If Soundgarden tours with Pearl Jam, PJ should bring along Krusen as a bench warmer - for the sake of Matt's health. (Then again, if one person could play two killer shows in one night, for an entire tour, and survive, it would be Matt!) Matt plays with Soundgarden, as well as the main Pearl Jam set, and Krusen plays the Ten-centric encores. It would be cool to hear Krusen's take on non-Ten material, too.

It's been about twenty years, so let's have the original Mookie Blaylock band for the encore! 8-)
