What's the extent of the injury ??

it's only June...plus the way this team is playing everyone is still alive

Does it really matter at this point? 2 of 5 starters out, Delgado and Reyes lost for virtually the entire season, 8th inning man down, and now Beltran..imagine your every day lineup without Utley, Howard, and Rollins..I'm beyond fucking disappointed..what a mess..you guys will be okay in the long run..and even if not, you've experienced a winning season, something I have never fucking done between the Mets and Jets..

Edit: Beltran will be out at least till after the All-Star break..lol..this is comical..apparently he's been playing hurt for a while..

Well, Toronto is still survivng even though their entire 5 man rotation is all on the DL and their closer is too.

Not that I want to Mets to do well, but it's way too early to throw the towel in. Baseball is a funny game and good teams get through adversity.

I'm confused.....is this the PHILLIES thread or the METS thread? :? :? :?

    from Jayson Stark:

Three Strikes: Philled up with a lot of losses

    Monday, June 22, 2009

Strike One -- Phillie Phloppage Dept.

In response to the gazillions of Philadelphia e-mailers looking for an explanation of the Phillies' recent cliff dive, I'll have more to say about that in Rumblings later this week. But in the meantime, I submit the following random Phillie facts:

    • Here's how hard it is to lose 22 home games by Father's Day: There have been six teams in the expansion era that didn't lose 22 home games all season (not counting strike seasons): the '61 Yankees (16), '75 Reds (17), '98 Yankees (19), '62 Giants (21), '69 Orioles (21) and (whaddayaknow) the '77 Phillies (21).

    • To repeat a note from Friday's blog, no team in history has had a season in which it had a losing record at home but won 70 percent of its road games. But the Phillies are working on it. They're 13-22 at home but 23-9, .719, on the road.

    • No offense should be asked to come from behind as often as the Phillies' lineup has been forced to do that this year. This team has trailed at some point in 52 of its 67 games this season. That means, even though the Phillies are in first place, they've trailed in more games this season than the Pirates or Royals (51 apiece). And even the Nationals, who are already 27 games under .500, have only trailed in 58 games.

    • If it weren't for the Phillies' closer issues, they might be leading the NL East by eight games. In their last 27 games, their closer (Brad Lidge or Ryan Madson) has either contributed a blown save, a loss or both in seven of them. Of their 11 losses in June, seven have been hung on the bullpen. And our friends at Inside Edge report that Madson hasn't gotten a single swing-and-miss on his fastball since Lidge was placed on the disabled list.

    • Oh, and one more thing. To repeat a recent Elias Says note, the Phillies have lost more games this year that they led in the ninth inning or later (six) than any team in baseball. Last year, of course, they lost the fewest games like that of any team in baseball (zero).

    • Finally, the Phillies just got swept at home in back-to-back series by the Blue Jays and Orioles. Here's why that shouldn't happen to a team with win-the-World-Series aspirations: The Orioles hadn't swept a road series of three games or more since May 30, 2007 (at Kansas City), which was 53 road series ago. And the Blue Jays hadn't swept a road series of three games or more since May 15, 2008, which was 29 road series ago.

You're all being very Un-Dude-like. Nothing is fucked here. Just gotta get through most of July scratching and clawing. This race will go to September. It just sucks because I was hoping for a different year where we just run away with it and win 95+ games. Guess not now - now we gotta put up with more heart palpitations through the end of the season.

So I'm hearing there's rumors of a Drabek, Taylor, and Happ deal for Halladay. I'm doing that in a heartbeat.

Make the trade in a heartbeat if Toronto will accept.

Ask Red Sox fans, would they rather still have Hanley Ramirez playing SS the next decade or the 2007 World Series title that Beckett with some help from Lowell brought them.

Anyone else feel that the reason they're going after Pedro is because they're going to have to include Happ in a trade?

I think the reason is the Phils need arms bigtime, and there happens to be a 3 time Cy Young winner without a baseball club. But you may be right, rumor is that the Jays want Happ in that trade.

Ha. That's funny - I honestly didn't hear anything about that. It makes the most sense really. Because it doesn't solve the #2 problem(haha, that's funny), so I cannot see them being done.

I love Halladay coming here, but i don't think we should get rid of Drabek. I know he has never done anything yet but I really believe he is gonna be a monster. And i know u will say that Halladay already is and he's a sure thing which i agree with, but i still wouldn't part with him. And if thats a deal breaker then so be it. Potential with this organzation we all know to well with Floyd,Carrasco,Tyler Green didn't pan out here. But Drabek WILL be a ACE for years to come so please don't trade him.

Yeah, but for when? When Howard leaves for free agency, Rollins is let go, Victorino gets too expensive, and Hamels nears the end of his deal? You become the odds-on favorite in the NL with that rotation immediately.

Well, step 1 towards getting Halladay is complete...

And, hope to see you all at game 3 of the World Series...booooooo to the NL. Ry could've been a hero last night - I really thought he was going to tee off on Nathan once he caught up to his fastball. Same thing with Werth against Papelbon.
