stop please - you couldn't beat us 2 years in a row with all your players. why does it matter? at least now it is August you know you are done. At least you don't have to think you have a chance and get crushed in the end. Would it make you feel better to watch Reyes laugh it up as you are choking again? We've beaten you 2 years in a row with a lesser team - we are even better this year. You weren't beating us anyway.
Actually, I'm not sure about 2007 but last year the Mets beat the Phillies head to head, even without a bullpen. They chocked it away to other shitty teams, opening the door for the Phills..anyway, good luck rest of the way guys..
wow so you beat the Phils head-to-head - want to put a banner up for that one?

What are you talking shit for again? You're acting like the Mets can't or haven't competed with the Phillies, which obviously isn't the case if they beat them head to head last year. Big choke artists, yes, but not against the Phills..let's get real..anyway, we are waiting word on Santana's possible career ending injury..lol..again, good luck rest of the way..

because I am sick of reading every day you complaining about the Mets and their injuries (in a Phillies thread but Ill give you a pass this week since they played the phils) and, as I said above, it's not like it made a difference for the Mets to be healthy the last 2 years.

gotta love whipping lousy teams like the Mets. Bring on the Pirates next. Kick Atlanta's butt on the weekend and get this division way out of sight.

Could you guys please stop referring to this mess as the Mets..imagine all of a sudden waking up tomorrow without Utley, Howard, Rollins, Werth, Victorino, Ibanez and their immediate back-ups..this would almost be the equivalent of the team you fighting Phills so proudly beat up on..actually Friday you lost, and Sunday barely survived due to some freak play that prior has only occurred once in history to end a game, way back in 1927. In the meantime, Francoeur got injured for the first time in his baseball career and Santana is out for the season....please explain how all this could occur to a team in one season? Please, won't someone..please..

It's perfectly fitting since we don't call them Da Mets in Philly, we call them Da Mess!

    1) Thanks for the pass, boss..and I'm not in this thread complaining every day as I haven't posted in here since the 17th of this month...so you must be reading the Mets thread daily, which I suggest you stop if I aggravate you to this extend..

    2) You're just talking straight up nonsense. 2007 was a total collapse, and I'll give you that. Last year the team won 89 games while blowing about 30 saves. It is completely ridiculous to think that the same team with the additions of K-Rod and Putz wouldn't have been a force this year. Not to mention the Mets handled the Phillies head to head last year...and did so once again this year, while coasting in first place with a record of 28-21, before everyone started dropping like flies..

But yeah, it doesn't make an ounce of difference ;) ..

got to give Myers a chance in September. Lidge is done - he is getting torched. All those balls were bullets last night - it's not like they are flaring them in on him. Brutal.

4 games in a row will do that to you.... Lidge will get a few days off to rest and we might get to see who Charlie will call on to close a game. I don't think Madson can handle it and who else do you have back there... Moyer?? Park?? I don't see any closer type stuff in the bullpen until Myers returns and he might not even have it unless his velocity is back.

Agreed.. a friend mentioned Park as a closer today and I laughed it off at first but after about 10 seconds didn't think it was a bad idea to try. I mean Park had done everything else they have asked of him this year, why not be a closer.

In case pjhawks is interested, I'd like to report that Perez is the next Met starter this week to follow Mr. Santana in getting season ending surgery..we have one starting pitcher remaining, and one shitty Castillo position player going..lol....talk about being cursed.. ;) ..

blah blah blah - again just stop please - you act like you beat the Phils the past 2 years and you haven't. even healthy you're team has been losers. Even the Rockies and Brewers in the past 2 years have beaten them out for a playoff spot. Every year the Mets have an excuse. One year it's the closer, one year injuries blah blah blah - hope you enjoy watching the Phils in the playoffs again now go back to whining and crying in your Mets thread and let us talk here about a team that is still relevant.

You should have heard the crowd cheering Manuel when he pulled this loser off the mound with a 3-0 count on Pedro....and we hope to never see this guy pitch, ever again for the Mets..

2 out of 3 against the Braves with even Lidge looking good in his 2 outings. 8 game lead and rolling along. So much for Ibanez being on steroids too - where are all those people now? We'll get his swing fixed for the playoffs hopefully.

I agree. I think he's old and still hurt, but I'm sure some blogger has noticed this besides me. The story broke June 8th on a Phillies offday about Ibanez possibly being on PEDs.

what was he from June 9th until the injury though? I think it has to do with his injury and the natural high and lows of a season - no one in their right mind thought he would stay as hot as he was until June 7th. I still think he will get hot again and will be a great asset in the playoffs.

It's a very small sample as he got hurt on June 17.

.194/.265/.516 with 3 HRs and 5 rbis in 34 plate appearances.

I agree. I think he's old and still hurt, but I'm sure some blogger has noticed this besides me. The story broke June 8th on a Phillies offday about Ibanez possibly being on PEDs.

Start of season to June 7th:
.329/.386/.676 with 19 homers and 54 rbis in 246 plate appearances

    From June 9th to current:
.215/.300/.425 with 8 homers and 25 rbis in 203 plate appearances

what was he from June 9th until the injury though? I think it has to do with his injury and the natural high and lows of a season - no one in their right mind thought he would stay as hot as he was until June 7th. I still think he will get hot again and will be a great asset in the playoffs.

It's a very small sample as he got hurt on June 17.

    But:

.194/.265/.516 with 3 HRs and 5 rbis in 34 plate appearances.

All I gotta say is did anyone see him dig in for that triple the other night? I really don't think it's the injury as much as his timing and looking flat-out old. He needs to stay behind the ball and drive it the other way and just get back to hitting, instead of trying to crush the ball.
