The problem is, I don't see any assumptions there. The way the rotation is set up right now Hamels would be on 3 days rest to pitch game 1 which would make no sense at all, especially after his two prior starts would be with 4 days rest. I agree that Cole will most likely start game one, but the Phils are going to have to do some shuffling for that to happen.

Not sure when the blogger wrote his prediction, but the Phils website has Hamels pitching on Tuesday and not Wednesday as part of the doubleheader on four days rest which would keep him in line for Game 1.

That was the only change I saw that the Phils could make (Muphy had Moyer making the DH start). Puts Cole on 4 days rest for the rest of the season though right??

Yep, though I can see him making like 50 pitch starts once they clinch to keep them fresh but on his regular day.

Yeah, it's gonna be a tough spot with only being 1 game up on St. Louis.

Well looks like Cole isn't set up to pitch game one of the NLDS after all with Blanton and Moyer going today.

That's pretty funny. Still though, huge man crush.

And I don't things change that Hamels pitches game 1. Pedro most likely won't start Friday and Cliff will pitch.

Ok that gives Lee 4 days off but then Blanton and Cole would be pitching on 3 days. I don't see that happening.

Just look at this way - the season ends on the 4th and the playoffs begin on the 7th. I'm pretty sure they'll space out the rotation to how they want it. And you'll most likely see Kendrick in there again to fix it accordingly.

Looks like Lee and Pedro will swap starts and the rotation goes from there.... magic number 5 and counting.

Lidge sucks - why do we insist on still throwing him out there? He has sucked since April - it's not going to happen this year Charlie - be done with it please.

i've given Lidge more slack than Charlie this year, but your right it's getting way to close to the playoffs. This problem Sucks! The Phils probably won 100gms this season, if they didn't blow all these leads

Btw, I was at the game last night and I have to criticize the fans. I know Lidge has had a tough year, but booing him when he comes into the game is pretty bad. I was kinda embarrassed sitting in the outfield last night when Lidge came in and was greeted by fans calling him a bum and yelling you suck.

i agree he shouldn't be booed coming into a game at this point but...we are starting to choke like the Mets did. this is not over and for the 1st time this year I am nervous we might blow this thing. frankly Lidge wil be the main reason if don't win this thing - we should have been up double digits - and yes that is the same thing mets fans said the past 2 years

Sorry I can't blame Lidge for all of this (most yes but not all).... there is plenty of blame to be thrown around especially at the lineup for not producing runs for long periods of time, either over a couple of games or thoughtout the course of games. It just boggles the mind how many RISP the Phils have left on base.

it is baffling how little this team hits with runners in scoring position. Utley has been terrible at it this year. Feliz has actually been real good at it.

feel much better today with the Braves losing and magic number down to 1 - now we have to see if we can get some pitchers healthly for a playoff run.

Raul came out to "The Fixer' during his last at bat last night - didn't notice it in his previous at bats so not sure - something to check out tonight. hopefully they clinch for you tonight.

I don't think he has a set song. I think they just play "Seattle" music when he bats, because I've heard PJ, AIC and Soundgarden before when he bats.

I was at the game last night. I was worrried in the first few innings. Pedro got out to a rough start. It's a good thing that the Phillies can score some runs. Pedro really got booed when he did not run out a hit to first.
The crowd was really into, I think everybody stayed to the ninth. It was really cool that we sang High Hopes for Harry

I got to be honest, at first I was like wtf Charlie , why are we giving this guy a pass but then thinking about it and seeing how Lidge reacted and how classy he was after the game and all throughout his struggles I got to give Charlie credit for the move. Very classy. Lidge really has handled it well and with class and he was generally excited to win. Even last night he talked about how Madson did the night before. It's funny because I'm not a big Charlie fan but it is moves like last night and how patient he is with them why the players love him so much. His patience and attitude works for this team for sure.

As far as the celebrating I think after a long season it is just a release. As Ricky Bo said on the pre-game last night when Feliz hit the grand slam the night before it was like a huge exhale collectively by the team and the fans. The pressure was mounting a bit and you can tell the players were fatigued - i think the celebration last night was more or a release from the long season - they had played 27 games in 27 days. I will say I've never quite understood celebrating winning the 1st round of the playoffs - i would hope they would be pretty subdued with that.

There wont be a tie. ;)

I gotta feel that some of the dudes get a night off tonight though. Especially Utley, Shane, Feliz, and Werth. Jimmy's a horse and playing is only making him better, Ryan can always play, and Raul's already been getting days off here and there. Though they are in need of much deserved rest since about 6 of the starters have played over 155 games.

What's even crazier is that Colorado has an outside shot of going from the last spot in the seedings to the top with their series with LA this weekend.
