There wont be a tie. ;)

I gotta feel that some of the dudes get a night off tonight though. Especially Utley, Shane, Feliz, and Werth. Jimmy's a horse and playing is only making him better, Ryan can always play, and Raul's already been getting days off here and there. Though they are in need of much deserved rest since about 6 of the starters have played over 155 games.

What's even crazier is that Colorado has an outside shot of going from the last spot in the seedings to the top with their series with LA this weekend.

Colorado has a very outside shot. The Dodgers lead the season series 12-3 against them so if there's a tie they'd get the division and the Rockies the WC like in 2005 when the Red Sox and Yanks had the same record.

If the Rockies lose tonight, the weekend series doesn't matter.

If I had to guess and this is assuming the Yankees take the longer series so they can go with only 3 starters in the first round.

Wed: Afternoon game will be Phils and Rockies, 7 pm game Minn/Det and Yankees and 10 pm game will be Cards and Dodgers

Thursday - Afternoon game at 4 will probably be Red Sox and Angels, Phils and Rockies will be 7 pm game and then Cards Dodgers at 10.

Saturday game - most likely the Phils and Rockies will be the late game after the Cards and Dodgers

Sunday - same thing as the Rockies are the westernmost most team to be hosting a game of the 4 possible games, that would probably be the late game as well.

The Yankee games are starting an hour earlier, not sure why, maybe that's so the East Coast can see a few more innings of the late games before going to bed, though that never stopped many people before.

and the Yankees I'm sure will take the series that starts Wednesday for the extra off day.

lets win the 1st series for sure - huge disappointment if we lose to the Rockies. Game times suck as usual - 2 afternoon games and a 9:30 saturday night.

they need to schedule these games ahead of time - giving people barely two days notice of a 2:37 pm start is ridiculous. makes a lot of people try to scramble to juggle work commitments to get to the games or see them. I'll be listening at work.

Also why can't they play 2 games at the same time? what is the point of starting games at 2:30 in the East when so few can watch it - if you put 2 games on at 5:00 the ratings for both games would most likely to equal to the combo of a 2:37 and 5:37 start times.

    Two words- TV contracts.

Rich Hoffman has a nice little piece today about what MLB should do with the division round so that they get the most out of it in regards to ratings. Basically, start times are 6 and 9 and games are shown regionally instead of nationally.

MLB tried that about 5 or 6 years ago and it got really annoying. The Phils weren't in it and because Philly was an NL East city we were stuck being forced to watch the Braves play and the AL games were not available to be broadcast in the first round.

No system is perfect, but staggering the games out is much better than that.

why can't they have one game on TBS and one game on TNT simultaneously? casual fans are not turning on other games - the ratings differences would be minimal - in fact you could argue by putting 2 games at 6:00 your ratings for game 1 would be better since the Philly market would get a much higher share even if the Yankees played at the same time. Casual Phillies fans will watch the Phils at 6:00 but will not watch or turn on a game if the Phillies aren't playing (and vice versa for yankees fans etc.). I agree the one game in one market and one game not showed is not the answer either - 2 games 2 stations running simultaneoulsy is the best solution in my opinion

Eh. I don't mind it. Cole is really picky about his routine, so I guess in a way he had to be the game 1 starter. Either way, I think winning both these games are crucial so I don't think it matters 1 or 2 just as long as they take both.

So what's everyone's thoughts on Lee getting the nod for Game 1?

Eh. I don't mind it. Cole is really picky about his routine, so I guess in a way he had to be the game 1 starter. Either way, I think winning both these games are crucial so I don't think it matters 1 or 2 just as long as they take both.

I understand about Cole and his routine, but I still would have gone with him Game 1. I hope he proves me wrong, but Lee is still shaky in my opinion.

Definitely. I think all of us would love to see Colbert finally man up and say, "Hey! Gimme the fuckin ball!" instead of, "I love animalssssss!!! I have a malteeeese."(You know what I'm talking about) Love the guy, but the lack of testicles is annoying.

I really think Lee got complacent, and think he plays better when everything's turned up a notch. I think he'll do well. I see him giving up 3 over 7(in my head I'm thinking he goes 8, 9 K's, and gives up one run). The offense better be licking it's lips with Ubaldo. A right handed pitcher who throws 95? That's right up their alley, and they better hit like it.

MY only issue about tomorrow is where I'm going to park my car outside my place without getting a ticket while I'm at the game. Thinkin I'm gonna use the school parking lot.

don't think it matters. I'm more concerned with the other pitchers they have on the playoff roster. Specifically Durbin, Pedro, Bastardo, and fucking Kyle 'pitching machine' Kendrick. I would have taken Condrey & Walker over any of those guys. I understand Bastardo since they need a lefty, but the other three make no sense to me.

I know philly loves pedro, but he isn't going to start a game in this series and he is useless in the bullpen. If he is coming in to throw in the 7th inning he'll have to start warming up in the 2nd.
