Steinbrenner said Sunday by telephone. “There is no question about it, you don’t have a guy with a 100-mile-per-hour fastball and keep him as a setup guy. You just don’t do that.xavier mcdaniel wrote:You have to be an idiot to do that.”

I have to agree with Hank SB. We need Joba as a starter. We really don't have an intimidating starter. The problem is that realllllly make the pen weak.
Bruney,...maybe (hopefully) can take the spot, though he still can walk too many. Farnsworth,...haha. Hawkins has been horrible.PJ - 36

According to Cashman - Joba will be staying in the bullpen. Although I am not sure - if Ian Kennedy keeps pitching the way he has been, they need to do something.

if they move joba now, he'll reach his innings limit before the end of the season. it's best to wait.0

I heard about some of this on sports talk radio today about Hank Stienburger and Joba. I think Cashman is right, with a talent like Joba I'd rather have him as that middle relief star which leads you to Mariano9that combo is unstoppable). Most pitchers these days rarely pitch past the 7th. Many games are lost from the 6th to the 8th innings, here's where Joba is needed to stem the tide.
Besides you can't just name Joba a starter and he starts. It's going to take several weeks to get his pitch count up to snuff. In the meantime the Yanks will be without the much needed middle relief and still no gaurantee he'll win games being that he's pitching only once every 5 days compared to Mid Relief and available every day.
Good luck, Hank Stienburger is still a clown his facial look is one with a constant hemorrhoid problem.

Now it looks like Hank Stienburger is eating his own words. What a screw up.

Does Hank realize he's not the boss? he's not his dad? he's a cog in ownership?
I heard on ESPN and i tend to agree, meddling owners became useless when sports turned from a million dollar industry to a billion dollar industry.

can anyone name the owner of the spurs?Let's not be negative now. Thumper has spoken0 -

On the bright side: Wang/Pettitte are 7-1
the negative of moving Joba to the rotation right away: you lose him from the big club for a while as he transitions and I think this puts more pressure on him. I'm sure they would have started him from the beginning, but his innings limit kept that from happening.
the positive: Bruney looks like he could fill the role and I would be happy with Albaledejo and Veras in the pen. In fact there are several guys at Scranton who I think could step up and pitch out of the pen for the big club. The other big positive is that Joba has incredible upside as a starter and would be more valuable in that role. The other theory is that getting that transition over sooner rather than later could be beneficial.
I would say IPK is on a short leash for now. If he doesn't start to pitch better soon, I think he will be sent down where he can be brought along a little bit slower and Rasner will get the call. I think Karstens will be back soon as well. Joba will get his chance eventually, but I think that the Yanks will stick with the plan they came into the season with.Brian0 -

yeah, nice job taking the first two with a bit of a short-staffed team. I love seeing Mussina pitch like that. I think if they work the schedule, and the opponent just right, they could get him to 15 wins. Just make sure he comes down with the flu when The Red Sox or Tigers are on the schedule. and get Giambi out of there. Curious move by Girardi, not pinch running for Giambi in the 9th. He's a slug on the basepaths, and a butcher at 1st, and a valuable insurance run. PR Gonzalez there, then send him to 3rd and shift Ensberg to 1B. Very surprised Girardi didn't do that, but it's a moot point anyway0

I like Karstens (the anti-Pavano, staying in the game after breaking his leg) a lot, but to this point, he seems to be a AAAA player. Too good for AAA, but not good enough for the majors.0 -
I have no idea if this will translate in the majors but Darrell Rasner is off to a good start in the minors.

Anyone listen to the Yanks on the radio? I am a HUGE Yankees fan but I can't take the radio broadcast anymore. I love Sterling, a little over the top but you got to love him. But between Suzyn Waldman and the never-ending sponsors I can't take it anymore.
Waldman first, I will admit she knows her stuff. I will not argue that, but I just can’t stand her Boston accent and her unnecessary banter. Not to mentions she doesn’t shut up. But I can get past that, here is my real issue….
I don’t know why but it drives me crazy when every 2 pitches there is a commercial. Between station breaks, and “the 15th out is brought to you by Geico….”. It seems like everything is sponsored now a days. I know this is petty but it drives me nuts. And also, why does everyone on the post game show get a gift certificate for a steak dinner? Jeter is making 20+ million this season, why is he getting a gift certificate for a steak dinner?Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?0
