I don't know, but that's his catchphrase for Cano. I guess he couldn't tell them apart or something..

I think heard it. I remember Sterling confusing Cano with someone else. But don't remember if it was this Sunday. And it should be "Blech Hawkins." Gotta hope Boston and Toronto lose so we don't lose ground.

    but they look nothing alike!

WE didn't even deserve to win this game, giving up that many runs. Joe should have let them play out the game

Btw, so why isn't someone calling for Joe to be fired when the Yanks are losing just as badly as the Mets?

Agreed, but it's blech for the whole team. We gave up so many runs! But A-Rod had a chance to knock in a few more runs and he did bupkus as usual

What do you mean let them play out the game? And i asked the same question about Joe G. earlier. I gave him some slack cuz we had no A-Rod and Posada. Now that A-Rod's back they're starting to hit. But the pitching has been horrible with the few exceptions.

Why does everybody say did bupkus as usual? He's not 0 for 1000 in these situations. Giambi had a chance and he struck out. Everybody cherry picks stats.

Joe came out to ask the umps to call a rain delay. And then they did. And then they came back out. And lost!

who else says "bupkus as usual" just like that? I think that's a unique phrasing of words

    and I don't like him.

and to me, he always seems to do something not productive in big situations such as that one.

respect the stache, he's been hitting better since he started growing it. plus i want to here more run-dmc in the clubhouse after wins, so that's a plus on girardi that he lets them do that.

not that they say bupkus as usual. but words with same meaning. i'm talking about the haters really. nobody bats 1.000 in those situations. So if you hate the person the outs become magnified. But since he's been back they've been scoring a lot of runs. I don't know the exact number but I'm sure it's avg. over 5 runs a game.

    hate is too strong

I dislike him. Immensely. I think he is a jinx on the entire team. I think we're not going to win another WS until his contract is up.

and those stats are not entirely due to him. Abreu has been on fire and he's been the MVP thus far in the season, imo.

He actually wanted them to call a delay during Matsui's at bat or before because the rain was pouring down his helmet.

Matsui is more of the hot hitter. And Cano has said since A-Rod's return he has been hitting better. And when Posada come back it'll be a deeper lineup. I know it's not 100% Alex. But the 2 weeks he wasn't around they were lifeless. And if the starters pitch to their capabilities they can win a WS.

    fair enough
the pitching has not been reliable thus far. that is a problem no matter who is hitting

as long as there are no bizarre swarms of insects, he will be just fine. I hope! I disagree with making him a starter though, I think he was doing just fine where he was.

He was always meant to be a starter. But people got used to him being a reliver because he's been so great at it. But I rather have him pitching 7 innings rather 1 or 2. Who knows? He might be like Mariano. He was a starter and didn't do to well. But he had good enough stuff to pitch 1-3 innings as a reliever.

ok, he can go be accountable somewhere else. He's now in Igawa's class. I don't ever want to see him in a game. One thing that gets me about him---the way he kinda shows the ball to the hitter in is windup----wouldn't the really good hitters, or even shitty hitters with good eyesight, be able to pick up the grip he has on the ball, and know what pitch is coming? He's been in the league a long time, so if it that were true, obviously some coach would have noticed and changed his windup. But still.....

and the rain delay---what was that all about. why couldn't they call it when Matsui was up? That's not why they lost the game, and Matsui hit a liner, so it may not have affected him---I just don't get why they told Joe no, no rain delay, then one pitch later, they called for it. I've noticed this year, last few years actually, that they are playing in much worse conditions than they used to. Big time players are going to get hurt one day, playing in conditions like Matsui's at bat tonight. Could you imagine if Markaikis blew out a knee chasing a ball in that slop tonight? Or Brian roberts?

he's not going anywhere, but he's better than half these guys who say they had good stuff and made a few bad pitches. (makes you want to interject and say, yeah, a few bad pitches that just happened to go 400 feet).

  • I know, he'll be here all year. Him and his bloated 6.75 ERA. I just didnt want him in the game tonight, even knowing they were pretty much out of relievers. He only got one out, and it was near the warning track. No bloopers, everything was hit hard. I was hoping for a starter on his throw day to come in for the save. Not sure who that could have been, but something like what the Reds did the other day, Harang coming in the 13th for 4 IP, and Volquez behind him for 1 + IP.

They could have brought in Wang for an inning or two but Girardi probably just wanted to make sure he had no other options left before that happened.

As much as I hate "The Giambino", I'm sure glad to see him hitting like he has been lately. Would love to see him keep it up, but I'm not holding my breath.

Pettitte/Joba going tonight. What is going to be interesting is what happens next week when IPK's spot in the rotation rolls around. Who gets the start? Pettitte? Joba? Karstens?
