  • Disappointing year every way you look at it. Yes...they did not deserve playoffs at all. At least they finished strong.

I think we will see a brand new team next year. By that I mean a new attitude no more celebrity's playing baseball. A Girardi no BS team.

To me..my biggest disappointment award for the year goes to....Robinson Cano. There are guys that had worse years but being that he played a full year no injuries; he's graded on a full scale. His lack of hustle, enthousiasm and production for the large part of the year was a real let down. Girardi benching him was the right move. Just too late...

I'm not upset by this but I'm not especially thrilled either.

I don't have a problem with this. Like he said today, he has unfinished business with the Yankees, whom he has worked for since 1986.

  • I'm actually mildly surprised by this. Surprised Cashman came back. I really thought he was done after the whole Arod pre-opt-out we won't bring him back/post opt-out here's 1/3rd of a billion dollars fiasco. I wonder if muzzling hank was a condition, like his last contract, when they shutdown the Tampa faction. He's made some mistakes, but some of those came from the Tampa faction and Steinbrenner himself (Sheffield). he has built a solid farm system, and brought in a ton of pitchers. Let's hope they are ready for prime time in 09

the yanks would be in the playoffs right now if cashman signed bonds.

    i kid.

this is his last 3 years if he can't bring the 27th ring to the bronx in that time.

    clock is ticking.
  • Theres been a lot of "Cano trade bait" talk. Thoughts??? I don't think its a good idea. the dude has a lot of potential and one bad year is not enough to get rid of that. Though,...he appears verrrrry lax and Girardi will not stand for that.

I did really like the cano & hughes for matt holiday rumor however. that is the one exception.

  • i am so friggin excited about next year. i never have had a feeling like this. i guess we were 'out of it' so early, i just cant wait for a clean slate.

i am just wondering how the hell i am going to get into the stadium next year...that really has me worried. i moved over the summer and i am now a 20 minute subway ride away (used to be hour drive). i started looking into season ticket packages and might start recruiting people into splitting a full season, and get everyone like 10 games, if i can find 8 people to commit.

and as much as i hate to say it, anyone else rooting for an LA/BoSox series, and manny hit 3 hr every game as they sweep for joe as he gets another ring?

Yeah, the only thing that worries me about Cano is his effort. He has the ability to win a batting title and hit .300 every year, but he doesn't seem to care out there sometimes. If they could replace him with a Brian Roberts then I would trade him in a heartbeat for a good young OF. That isn't going to happen though, and he has a pretty nice contract. I think you really have to ride it out and hope he becomes the perennial All Star 2B he is capable of being.

wow, I hadn't heard that one. Couldn't pass that one up, even with the given that Holliday's numbers would naturally come down a bit, and Cano's would go up.

I don't like that at all. Especially the getting rid of Hughes part. I hate how everyone is giving up on him.

yea but I think Cashman can't be faulted completely on the A-rod fiasco cause I think Mr. Hankee had a lil something to do with that and he realized it so. I hope he makes some good off season moves, brings in some Quality pitching...maybe CC Sabathia or whomever...like X-man said.Cash got some unfinished business to take care of. I didn't expect 3 yrs..maybe one or 2 tops, but it's cool. He'll do alright
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...
Like I could even change the world, yeah right...

  • If I was Girardi I would have the each member of the Yanks study their city sharing friends...The New York Giants very closely this off season. Have them watch every snap, watch film from last year, watch the parade, and hell even go to their practices. See what it is like to be a true TEAM.

    NEW YORK YANKEES 2-PACK
They may be the "Bronx Bombers," but the New York Yankees also posses some of the best defenders in Major League Baseball. Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez combined to win five Gold Gloves at shortstop, with Rodriguez now anchoring third base to create a defensive net over the left side of the infield. They can hit too, but while the lumber makes the noise - the leather often wins the game.

Both boxed sets will be available at mass as well as specialty retailers - they are expected to arrive on shelves in late February, 2009.
