Why can't the Yanks beat pitchers with awful era's. I'd be surprised if they're over .500. It seems like everytime they get shutout. Although they got a few bad breaks. Yesterday and today.

I guess Joe G. won't have to worry about putting in Robertson in in a big spot. Like he didn't do yesterday. Keeping in Marte longer.

You never want to hear Andrews mentioned. Guess we will have to wait this one out and see. Bad night last night all around.

yeah that moving him to the starting rotation worked out really well. I can't believe how that game ended. Who the heck is this Marte guy?

This one isn't faring much better. At least it's closer. I am not a fan of this road trip. It's so long! And it only gets harder! Blech!

You didn't like the move into the rotation? It worked out pretty well. They wouldn't be in the race had they not put him in the rotation. These things are bound to happen.

If he had been in the bullpen and we had obtained or had another quality pitcher, Joba would have saved last night's ball game.

And if he was 'rushed' into the starting rotation and it led to this injury, it may have seemed effective in the short term but now it could be disastrous in the long run, imo.

I don't like how the focus is on trading for hitters intsead of shoring up the starting rotation with solid pitching.

although on other other hand, Xavier Nady has been impressive thus far.

He was always meant to be a starter. He was brought up last year cuz he was reaching his innings limit. So they decided to bring him up and get the remaining innings in the bullpen. He started in the bullpen this year because he was on a 140 ip limit. The bullpen has been doing great until recently. There aren't really that many good pitchers out there. I'd rather we try some guys from triple A.

This sounds like bad, bad news to me. He's going to Andrews to get a confirmation that surgery is required here. I'm thinking he's out til mid 2009. Hope I'm wrong
  • Melky can not be getting at bats in big situations anymore. If he's your bat off the bench, you're fucked. When's the last time he came thru?

fair enough but wouldn't he have pitched less innings in the bullpen as opposed to starting?

there has to be somebody good out there. If we could get Pudge surely we could get some good pitching!

He was going to be a started this year. They never said when the transition was going to start. That's why he started out in the bullpen. Phil Hughes is starting in Scranton on Thursday. He could be back in two weeks. Although I wish they would let him throw and work his way up here.

I'm not asking him to bat 1.000. Just to get a hit in a big spot once in a blue moon. Aside from 2007, a contract year, he never, ever, ever does. You pay Brett Gardner the league minimum to hustle down the line. You don't pay someone $28 million, especially after all the bullshit he has pulled, and continues to pull. You pay them double the league's average salary to win some fucking games. Not to hit moonshots when it's 12-2 and consistently embarrass the franchise. They should have let him walk. In fact, they should have slammed the door in his face once he opted out and not answered his calls when he came crawling back because noone else wanted him for that ridiculous salary

I don't think it's fair to say he's never done it aside from 2007. It's just magnified more when he doesn't. Jeter has come up short in big spots I don't see anyone complaining. And when A-Rod does come through. Everyone is "oh but these games don't mean anything. It's what he does in October." He can't win either way. I like that he still hustles down the line. What bull** has he pulled and continued to pull? The Yankees would be in last place if he was not here.

The opt-out for one. I never liked the guy to begin with, going back to his Seattle days, and I never wanted him here. This was his one chance to prove that he actually wanted to be here. For a whole year, he played it coy. then, he opted out. He did not want to be here. Sorry, not buying the whole Boras shit. Boras fell on his sword because noone else wanted ARod at his asking price. ARod knows what's going on. No way in Hell he did not know that the opt-out would be announced during the WS clincher.

The AllStar Game. Arod leaves in the 5th, and never reappears. Jeter watches the entire marathon from the dugout, and is the first player to hug Michael Young at the end of the game.

    Madonna.

    The Toronto slut

The Boston slut, who bragged about him setting up porking sessions with her during the 2004 ALCS

    The HA! Incident from Toronto

The Glove Slap, whcih really hurt them as Jeter would have been on 2nd instead of it being a double play

And on top of everything, the fact that every single time he comes up with the game on the line (excluding his magical 2007, I'll give him that) I beg him to prove me wrong and get a hit. He almost without fail proves me right. Michael Kay pointed out during a game recently how dreadful his numbers are "in the clutch", or in 2 out, runners in scoring position situations he is. For Michael Kay to get on him, when Kay's had his head so far up ARod's ass he can tell what he had for breakfast, that says something. Especially since Kay has been paid by ARod to emcee autograph gigs before.

all good points, plus he's a terrible quote. you can predict what he's going to say and it's never insightful.

I think they should suit Coney up and let him have a go, he couldn't do any worse!

    porking sessions

Porking sessioins? LOL. Hee hee. there has to be a better euphesim. Don't forget he bought one of those chicks a condo in Fla!

I'm no fan of his either but his off field antics are not necessarily related to his not hitting in the clutch.

I'm telling you all, he's a jinx. I bet anything, if they traded him, we'd start winning!
