Hahahaha. If that's the good news, the Yanks have a long, long, long way to go.

  • Ok, give me a shovel and some dirt. I was one of the last to admit it's over. But losing 2 out of 3 to Seattle.......see ya in February. It's funny. The team sucks, an dyet I don't know who I want gone, other than Giambi. I'd like to see Abreu back, but not long term. I'd love to drive DoublePlayRod tot he airport, but that's not happening. there's only one team stupid enough to sign anyone to a 10 year contract, let alone for $30 mil per. I'd move Damon if I could, coming off a very good year, while he has some value. Doubtful. it may be time for pettitte to hang em up. But that's what everyone said about Mussina last year. best case scenario for me---bring Pettitte and Mussina back on 1 year deals, and with the understanding that their spot in the rotation is not guaranteed. I'd really like to see Mussina stick around and make a run at 300 wins. But you have to go year to year with him at this point.

Should be DPJeter since he has 22. I would like to see Abreu back also in some capacity. But I don't like his defense. He has a good arm that's all. His on base is low for him. And I don't think we're going to win with him. Teams have gotten better when he left. Moose would be a good 4 or 5th starter. But only if he accepts a paycut.

  • At this point I'd like to see the No Heart Yankees finish in 4th. & believe it or not I'm a diehard fan. They deserve it & should be embarassed. I keep saying it but we need a Girardi team. A team that if they are going to go down, at least they go down swinging. Not these softies who will just go home to their millions (& God knows what else).

Move GM Champagne Breakfast would make....
Bye Bye....Giambi, Pavano, Ponson & Rasner (obvioulsy), Pettite (only if he retires), Damon (throw him out there).
I'd see what they can get for Matsui. I'd see if they can sign Abrea to a 2 yr deal decreasing his annual salary, if not he's gotta go. I'd see what they can get for Kennedy. I can go either way on Mussina.

Build this team around Joba, Wang, & unfortunately Jeter in A-Rod. Starting over and making the Yanks a Joba / Girardi team at least we know we'll have some heart and fire.

Thank God football has started. I've seen more intensity in one weekend then I have in 6 months watching the celebrities in pinstipes.

I hope they let Hughes stay with Scranton for the finals of the playoffs. I was really wanting them to bring him up before, but the Yanks aren't going anywhere and I think it could be a really valuable experience for him pitching in some meaningful games down there where it's do or die. Apparently he pitched insanely good yesterday. I'm going to have to try to go to one of the games here later in the week.

  • Just watching MNF on ESPN tonight and couldn't help but notice the MLB ticker has a headline from Hank stating Joe Girardi will definitely return next year as Mgr.
This pisses me off that its even a question whether or not Girardi returns. This player formula has proven to be a disappointment for 5 years. With all they've gone thru health wise etc this year Girardi deserves credit for keeping them somewhat afloat. To me Girardi is the starting point and the staple for what we need in the bronx. A fundamentalist, a fiery guy, a winner, guys with heart.

I hope Dave Eiland is okay. I guess he couldn't stand watching the Yankees play that he passed out.

no it was after the fight? Did you see it? Torii Hunter pushed Pudge in the back! Hard! That wasn't right. Both benches cleared and Hunter and Pudge were both ejected.

Well this is it. The last homestand at the Old Yankee Stadium. Until the game starts. You can watch the Yanks Triple A team Scranton beat up on the Rays Triple A team Durham online at minorleaguebaseball.com. It's free to view. You just gotta sign up. 10-1 Scranton. Phil Hughes already has 10 K's in 4ip. He ran into some trouble in the 4th. It was bases loaded no outs. He only gave up 1 run and struck out the side.

AAA update. 11-1 Scranton. Phil Hughes 12k's thru 5 ip. And that umpire had a very small strikezone. This will be his last inning since he's thrown 97 pitches.

I was at the Scranton game in Durham last night. The game was never in doubt. Hughes was dominant to say the least. He ran into a little trouble in 2 of his innings when he lapsed and lost command of the strike zone. He was bailed out by his defense in the 1st inning on a great throw from the CF to nail a runner trying to score.

Albaladejo pitched 2 innings plus. He was great for the first 2 then fell apart and had to be replaced in the 8th. I was surprised they sent him out for a 3rd inning. He hadn't thrown many pitches, but I just think of him as a set up guy and 2 innings is usually the limit.

There were a bunch of Yankee fans at the game. Jerseys, hats, and shirts everywhere. Lots of Yankee chants and cheers. There was a kid in our section having the time of his life. Shelly Duncan autographed the kid's Duncan jersey for him and then one of the players gave him a baseball. Speaking of Duncan, he hit one shot foul that if he had straightened it out, it would still be going.

It was cool to see Alavaro Espinoza coaching 3B. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was playing SS in the Bronx.

The more I watch Justin Christian play the more I like him. I know I'm in the minority, but I think he has a lot more potential than Gardner.

In all, I was hoping for a little closer game so Hughes would be forced to pitch under some pressure, but the whole experience should be great for him and some of the other guys on this team who will one day play for the big club. I took a few pictures and I'll post some if they turned out OK.

Bernie to return to Yankee Stadium for the final game. I'm glad he decided to be there.

Also read that Pettitte will start the final game at The Stadium.

    did everybody stop watching?
Congrats to the Captain, my baby, Derek Jeter, for tying Lou Gehrig's record for hits at Yankee Stadium. He has until the end of the home stand to beat the record. And he did it with a HR. If you missed the game, they will have it on YES again at 11pm.

And the fan that caught it gave the ball back to him!

Some stats tied or broken in today's Yankee game

Jeter tied Gehrig for most hits at Yankee Stadium by a Yankee.
Mariano Rivera tied Lee Smith for career saves.
    Alex Rodriguez has his 12th 30HR 100RBI and 100R season. 11th in a row.

That was cool to see him do it off someone as touted as David Price. Also Carl Pavano came down with left hip stiffness

wow, i didn't even realize Price pitched yesterday. I was hoppoing from family function to famly function,on top of being pretty much laid up with the old babd back and neck. On top of everything, my Doctor of 8 years abruptly retired last week, with almost zero notice, so I have no painkillers. fun.

thought i would pass this along to yankee fans.

this guy makes awesome wwII-era propaganda sports themed prints (it will make sense when you click the above link and see them). they are all handmade and individual numbered, signed, dated, etc.

anyways, he started out with strictly red sox prints and then a couple pats/celts ones but has expanded to other teams and he will be releasing a pretty sweet yankee stadium print shortly (scroll down and it is on the right)

fyi - i have no affiliation with this guy other than the fact that i bought a sox print from him last year for my mom for christmas.

btw - code 2727 will get you a 10% discount at checkout.
