congratulations...you're the second cockroach to come in here, talk trash, and un-jinx the Yankees this holiday weekend. Thanks. Please, do come back tomorrow.
Yea he caused all wars. Bush getting elected. The stock markets to crash. Creed to become a band. Only two day weekends.
By the way he has 4 rbi's. But I guess it doesn't count cuz they have 11 runs. In an 11-8 lead.
lmao! you know what I mean man...the guys just gotten beyond frustrating already...like I've said before, when he singlehandedly leads us to the promised land again the same way Messier did or Jordan did as the best players and leaders of their teams then I'll shut up. At some point he's gotta carry the load on his shoulders bro
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...

Man I came home today and my 12 yr old daughter put up a A-ROD got milk poster. I couldn't believe it and she likes the Yankees and Jeter too. She says because they're cute. Yuk! :( I knew she was O's fan but this is going too far, she just asked me for a Yankees poster.
I told her sure if she pays for it.

No. But I don't think it's fair that he's the only one being picked on. Don Mattingly is my favorite Yankee of all time. And everyone would say the same about him. Had he been playing now would you treat him the same way?
Mattingly and A-Rod should not be mentioned in the same breath. He was the captain, a leader. He never whined about nobody liking him. He got a bum rap when he came up but he proved his worth on the playing field and he was, is and always will be a class act.
And when Mattingly makes 200 million dollars and then can't hit the broad side of a barn when he comes up, then talk to me about him.

I don't recall A-Rod whining about people not liking him. How could 2 MVP's. 4 years of 30+ HR 100+ RBI a .300 AVG. Not proving his worth. And don't try to make it like I'm dissing Mattingly.
Would anyone else want to see AJ Burneet with the Yanks next year?
For the past 2 season every game this dude pitches I am more impressed. Though I'm sure he would demand good money, he's still been able to fly under the radar as far as "big name, high profile, celebrity ball player."
He does have an opt out option this year!!! My only concern is he is injury prone. But when he is healthy,....damn he can be dominating & lights out!!

As a Red Sox fan I would be thrilled if the Yankees signed AJ to a big contract. He'll be 32 next year and this is the first year he has won more than 12 games. He strikes out a ton of batters, but his ERA is 4.48 this year.
Pavano can come off your books and you can sign this guy to a new 4 year contract.

You're right. I'd rather sign Paul Byrd or Bartolo Colon. Or spend 50+ million just to talk to a guy from Japan. Or have them spend 4-5 million a year for a 41 yr old guy like Schilling and then have him tell the team he needs career ending shoulder surgery.
Yanks have made many mistakes and overpaid for older disapponting guys. But as a red sox fan....i would also take a look at your own team if you want to talk $$ and contracts. over the past 3 years you take the crown.

The Red Sox are paying Byrd and Colon a total of about 2.5 million for this year alone and then they are free agents at the end of the year and they are 7-2 with a 4.40 era for 50 innings so far this year. So that's not a bad investment.
Dice K is 16-2 this year.
I don't think you can use those as bad examples when your rotation consists of Rasner, Ponson, and Pavano right now.

I'm not trying to take sides here, because I have no affiliation with either team, but its hard to fault many of the Red Sox contracts the last four years when they have won 2 WS.
Also, and I think that the money spent on Daisuke is excessive, don't act like the Yankees didn't bid a ton of money just to talk to him too.
And there is no way you can say that any contract in baseball (with the exception of maybe Mike Hampton) is much worse than that of Carl Pavano's.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
I hope they don't go after Burnett. too injury prone, and if you take out his numbers against teh yankees, he's very mediocre. You can't throw $50 million at a guy so he'll stop beating you
Let me clarify.......I'm not talking about results and I was just talking $$ and contracts. I know they go hand in hand to some extent. But a boston fan can not come out and bash the Yanks for spending without knowing they have spent an ass load (the most in MLB????) the past 3 -4 years.

Good point. But you gotta admit when this dude is on he is one of the more underrated and nasty pitchers in the league. But maybe we are jaded bc we only see him at his best when he dominates the Yanks.

that 51 mil posting fee sure counts which is probably what creates the largest % increase
If you want to argue that a onetime posting fee that locks up a dominant pitcher for 6 years at 52 million (Dice K's base salary) is a detriment so be it.
I mean other than that the Red Sox payroll has been consistently 60 million or so lower than the Yanks.
Also, the Sox won the Series last year, brought back everyone and cut payroll by ten million. And with Manny gone next year their payroll will be even lower.
They are currently 4th in payroll in baseball this season.
Yanks will be significantly lower next year as well. Its quite obvious paying like they have the past 5-6 years has done nothing.
I will never be convinced that the 50+ mil that Boston paid to talked to RiceCake Matsusaka does not count towards payroll/contracts. Nobody even came in a close 2nd towards that #. Not saying it wasn't worth it, time will tell, but its significant

The way I look at it, it's twice what the Yanks paid Igawa when they panicked but worth finitely more than that deal.
ok.....that is a definte boston red sox way of thinking.
always relating straight to the yanks.
C'mon, xavier mcdaniel will back me up here, but if you don't think the Yanks overpaying for Igawa when no one else was bidding for him so that big Stein could have his own Japanese pitcher, you're only fooling youself.

of course i do. igewa was just one of many cashman & co has overpaid for.
he's nothing compared to kevin brown, pavano, giambi, etc etc to name a few. but when you have as much $$$ as the yanks you can afford to take chances like that. its the way MLB is.

I have to agree with that (dynamite name-dropping by the way). Cashman may have more automony than any of the GMs from the 1980s under Steinbrenner but there's no doubt in my mind (obviously I don't have concrete proof), that the "spending money" on Igawa was a retaliation move for the Red Sox getting Matsuzaka that was ordered by Steinbrenner.

i believe it is. I think they are the only team with a payroll over 100 mill to ever win a WS. (and trust me that is not something to brag about) Would i like them to trim payroll? absolutely. will they probably not.

C'mon, xavier mcdaniel will back me up here, but if you don't think the Yanks overpaying for Igawa when no one else was bidding for him so that big Stein could have his own Japanese pitcher, you're only fooling youself.

he's nothing compared to kevin brown, pavano, giambi, etc etc to name a few. but when you have as much $$$ as the yanks you can afford to take chances like that. its the way MLB is.

Giese was activated. Wonder if he will get a start. Maybe they will just go ahead and rid themselves of Ponson.
AAA Playoffs start tomorrow. Scranton and Pawtucket meet in the opening round. I think the games will be free to watch online at MiLB.tv
