batting practice is probably better because at the press gate the security puts up barrier and players don't sign as much as they used to. but it is interesting to see the players pull up on the team bus or drive into the parking lot.

  • I found out recently why players don't sign a smych as they used to. I went into a Steiner Sports store in the mall, and autographed balls are going for $200-$500 depending on the player. Why sign for free when you could sign for a greasy, sleazy, autograph peddler?

don't the gates only open like 2 hrs before game time?

Can you go to Monument Park before the gates open?

Oy, things look bleak. Maybe they'll call this one for a rain out?

Yanks are going to be in big trouble this year. Wang is the only gaurantee they have in the rotation. Kennedy looks like shit hughes done for the most part. Pettite is showing his age too, although he will probably come around. Too many old slow bats on the offensive side. Can't wait until guys like Giambi, Matsui, and damon are all gone.

It will be easier to work with a clean slate.

i had the same attitude last season by the time the all star break came around. pretty much gave up on them. then they made a hell of a run after the break. i'm not counting them out until it's an absolute.

xavier...where's the old announcer, I haven't heard his voice in like two games....and what's wrong with the team....
  • You mean Bob Sheppard? he's ill, a bronchial infection dating back to last year's playoffs. he epects to be back soon. He's 97 years old.
  • and what's wrong with the team....

too old in a few spots, too young in a few spots. This is a transition period for them, as Giambi and Mussina will definately be gone after this year, and possibly Abreu and Pettitte also. I just hope they try and fill Hughes wpot with someone from the system, and don't panic George style and deal off a few prospects for some bum like Bronson Arroyo

pretty much everything that fighting hellfish said. if these pitchers are as good as advertised or hyped up to be and if it means they miss the playoffs this year, that's the way it has to be. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move two forward.

Amen!! As much of a die hard Yankees fan I am, I am also a realist. You can't win every year. It doesn't matter how much money you spend. But I became a die hard in the 80's when they were terrible so having this magical run from 96 - now has been awesome. Hey look at Boston. They won the WS in 2004 missed the playoffs in 06 (actually came in 3rd behind Tor) and won the WS again last year. Missing the playoff is not the end of the world.

I think they are heading in the right direction. For years people said they bought their championships, which I think is BS anyway. And now they are building the farm system and going with the youngsters. Which of course you are going to take your lumps.
Hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the jon so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz? YEEAAHHH. I don't care if he is Mr. Notorious BIG, can he croon?

Well the Yanks looked just awful against the Tigers, but at least they have rebounded against Seattle. I know the Mariners have been on a slide, but without A-rod & Posada, the offense at least has been scoring some runs for out pitchers.

Rasner hasn't looked bad today at all. He made one mistake in the first, but no bumps other than that.

Yankees have won 14 of their last 19 home games vs. the Mariners. They batted .324 (34-for-105) in the series.

The Yankees were the last team that put together a five-run inning.

The Yankees are 15-1 when a starter goes six innings.

Damon, Jeter, Abreu and Matsui were 21-for-37 with 11 Runs and Nine RBI in the last two games.

Damon has reached in 19 straight games, the longest current streak in the AL

Cabrera did not hit his sixth home run until July 31 of last season. He has reached base in 29 of 31 games

Jeter is batting .341 since returning from his quad injury.

seems like Boston and New York's strength and weaknesses are total opposites. Red Sox are struggling at the plate recent, while their pitching is looking good. Yanks are the other way around. Youk has a nice day! :)
