Games like tonight are what reallly piss me off about this team.
Scott F'n Feldman??? First ever win on the road. As I said earlier,...if you are a shitty player or shitty team play the Yankees and your streak will snap.
Cano and Melky really need to start playing ball instead of with each other.

I turned on the game late, and saw him at the plate. I had no idea they brought him up. I like it. 4th OF, pinch runner, and he could very well take melky's job away

He has good speed. And they also brought up david Robertson. I missed his appearance on Sunday. I couldn't watch the Yanks not score. They keep screwing with Rasner. He pitches well and they don't give him runs. And now Mussina pitches a good game and no offense. They're gonna need to pick it up. This is a very important week.
We should thank Tampa. They got deep into the Sox bullpen tonight. 5 pitchers worked 3 innings tonight. Soften em up, even if they were already pretty soft.
I think they'll be around all year, as long as their fragile pitching holds up. They're good, but not deep. if Kazmir goes down, they'll be in trouble, unless Price is ready.
maybe they started hitting b/c Steinbrenner told them to?
Tampa Bay has been sticking around for a while though. Stranger things have happened. Like the Sox winning after86 yrs!
this team is so jeckyll and hyde this season, it's maddening.
and i'm not saying tampa is a shit team, i just don't think they can hold it for the rest of the regular season. something will give. teams go on streaks (winning and losing).
there'll be video batting cages. Pitching. Trivia challenge. Free autographs from Major League legends.
It sounds pretty cool! Thanks for the info.
I saw the brochure that was in today's Post with the listings of the events. They should have a Pearl Jam concert in Central Park instead of Bon Jovi

I know teams go on streaks
I think they've been doing pretty well this season and to beat Boston like that, it's unbelieveable
We have too many good hitters to be concerned about some slumps here and there..although it sucks to not capitalize on chances to score runs
but our pitching has to stay reliable and they have to stay healthy

I've always said that of PJ playing CP. I was hoping that would be the Big Bold Surprise that never was.
they had a closed door clubhouse meeting for over 30 mins.
Blech.
Edit: Did you guys see this post game coverage with Joe! He sounds SUPER pissed! Whoa!
He was dogging out someone named Joel, a reporter? Is that Sherman from the Post or somebody else?

only 30 minutes?? should have been an hour minimum.

just speculation here, as I didn't see the postgame, and have no idea what was going on, but I found this from Joel Sherman's blog:
2. Let's just say that if it were Joe Torre that did not have Cabrera bunt with one on, no outs and the Yankees down by a run in the ninth, the enemies of Torre within the Yankee organization would still have their favorite toy, the YES Network, running a 24-hour marathon/inquisition about that decision. Cabrera was hitless in his previous 18 at-bats and with lefty C.J. Wilson on the mound, he was up from his much weaker right side. Cabrera fell into an 0-2 hole swinging away and then bounced into a double play that all but guaranteed Yankee defeat. Girardi said something afterward about the Yanks not hitting well with runners in scoring position in why he eschewed the bunt. But Cabrera is not hitting well in any situation. Wouldn't you at least want two cracks with a runner on second and Johnny Damon and Derek Jeter, who was going to pinch-hit, as the hitters rather than hoping the struggling Cabrera would have the answers. Maybe with some time to ponder this the Yankee manager will be able to provide a better explanation on the Joe Girardi Show, only on YES.

the yankeees have had a problem with not hitting while players were in scoring position for a long time now......
definately. 2 walks to start the game, a chance to jump out early...squandered. Boston's bullpen came in shot. The Yankees send up Abreu, and then the 2 highest paid players in all of baseball, who both whiff. On the bright side, just 9 1/2 years left of The Arod/madonna/strippers/sunbathing in central park era left. I'll be 42 when his contract is up.
oh, and as to the point of Sherman's blog---letting Melky swing away there was a terrible decision. Either bunt him or pinch hit jeter. No way you let him swing away. he may be a very good outfielder, but he can't hit for shit. I hope Gardner hits, and takes his job. melky's got a better arm than him, and that's it

Giambi's contract is up after this year. And I didn't like that they bunted in the first inning in Wednesday's game either.

good riddance. i know he's been hitting well, but I just feel like the team changed dramatically, and not for the better, when Giambi took over for Tino. Mussina was a necessity after the 2000 season. They started to get greedy with Giambi, going out and getting the best player every year. To me, Giambi more than anyone is a symbol of the teams failures over the last 6 years.
I wonder where they'll look for a 1B next year. I don't think they have anything in the system. Duncan can be a decent bat off the bench, but he's not an everyday 1B. I hope they don't try Damon and/or Posada there. That's got trainwreck written all over it. Posada's career numbers are only considered great for a catcher. As a 1B, he'd be average at best, unless he somehow hit .335 again. I think Teixeira will be too expensive. I know, it's hard to say a guy is too expensive for the Yankees. And I think he's very good. problem is, Boras is said to be looking for $ 100 mil plus. i dont think he's worth that much. Any ideas?
Nobody is sacred . . . nobody is safe," Steinbrenner told The Post. If players aren't performing, they could be benched or sent to the minors. "I don't care who they are or how much money they make," he declared.
Will Derek Jeter be riding The Scranton Shuttle in the 2nd half? Maybe ARod will be shipped to Staten Island if he doesn't hit this weekend.

I just stumbled across his stats so far this year:
6-0 1.74 ERA 49 K's 13 BB's .218 BAA
I already picked him up in a fantasy league, but dropped him due to needing the roster spot. i think I'll grab him again
Blech.
