Blyleven may get in eventually. Don't think Kaat will.

Were you listening to 660 yesterday afternoon? Mike read a stat that there are 20 pitchers besides Mussina with over 200 wins for a career and have at least 100 more wins than losses. 16 are in the hall and the other 4 are Pedro, Maddux, Clemens and Randy Johnson.

That alone should ensure Mussina gets in.
yeah, was listening when he went over that....good news

What's up with Andy possibly going to the Dodgers. Didn't he say he only wanted to play for the Yankees or retire. I thought he wanted to play in the new stadium.

  • I could see why he'd feel slighted. just like after 2003, they have shown little interest in bringing him back. Looks like their position now is, if everything else falls thru (CC, the off injured AJ Burnett, and the very mediocre Derek Lowe) then maybe they'd consider bringing him back, if he takes a paycut

I hear they offered or want to offer him $10 mil and he wants the same $16.

Although it won't happen. Here's hoping Mattingly sneaks into the Hall.

It is a weak class. Rickey henderson is a lock. That's it.Maybe McGwire moves up a bit, though he wont get in. Maybe someone like Jim Rice gets a few extra votes...

How about the 2013 class. Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz (possibly) Mussina (who definately won't get in on his first try, not with the Atlanta triplets on the ballot)
  • It's called----Yankee Stadium. They didn't sell the name to a bank who plans to take half a billion from the taxpayers, and give it to the the team. They did turn down an offer of about $50 million per year to name the stadium, however

I would have been so weird it if was called anything else..that would be like them renaming Fenway Park!!!!!!!!!!!

agreed. No matter what they named it, people would have still called it Yankee Stadium.

Yankees offered Sabathia a 6 year deal for $140M.

figured the Yanks fans would be in here turning cartwheels.

Blows the Brewers $100M contract offer out of the water.

not sure anyone is going to come close to that money.

that offer was amde almost a month ago. Clearly he does not want to pitch for the Yankees, or he would have accepted already. I'm fine if he goes elsewhere. i think he's been overworked the past 2 years,a nd he's gonna break down soon. Esp. The Brewers stint,. They knew they couldnt sign him, so they abused him. I'm surprised they didn't have him close the games he didn't start. One thing though, if he signs a contract for less money overall, or less average annual salary, the union is gonna give him hell.

Well, I saw Steve Phillips on ESPN .... said the Yanks and Sabathia spoke last night in Vegas ... so, it's a "refreshed" offer I guess.

Indeed, he wants to pitch for a California team ... as he's from here.

Angels won't make him an offer until the Teixeria issue is settled, and I think the Dodgers are out of the mix.

Supposedly the Giants are going to make a lesser offer.

someone mentioned to me they thought the a's were going to be in the mix, but I can't see that happening considering their financial history in free agency, though it is Billy Beane and he always seems to do the unexpected.

I almost fell out of my chair when i saw Holliday went to the A's...My guess is that he'll flip holliday in the summer and get better prospects than what he gave up to Colorado to get him. or he could let him walk and get the 2 draft picks
