Brett Gardner leads off with a homer today in the first spring game. Hopefully a sign he will be the man in CF.
A-Rod also homers in his 2nd ab.

I've lived in Atlanta for 5 years now and the yankees have never played the braves since i lived here.

This year the yankees are in town for 3 games in late June and i was able to get tix to all three games as part of a "6 pack" plan.

Unfortunately two of the other three games are on a sunday against the phillies and marilns which is not too bad, but the third game is against the Giants on a Thursday and it is an afternoon game so i'm going to have to take off of work if i want to go. PRetty sleazy to throw that game in with those tickets i thought but oh well.

I'm excited to see the yankees at least three times in person this yera :D

I'm surprised it wasn't already posted. But Alex may need surgery on his hip. And could miss up to 4 months. The Yankees want to avoid surgery and rest and rehab it. But most likely he will need the surgery. He keeps taking hit after hit.

He should just take the surgery now.

This is like the Shawn Merriman scenario ... he'll try and play through it, then, a few weeks into the season, he'll go in for the surgery ... then be out until Sept.

He should just go to surgery now and be back in June.

I wonder if this happened a week ago, if the Yanks would have gone after Manny?

Unfortunately he might have to. But even though their starting pitching is deeper this year. They have a lot of batters who open the season with slow starts.

True, the Yanks have needed the offense of Mr. April the last few seasons until the rest of their batters get out of the gate.

Blalock and garrett Atkins can pobably both be had relatively cheap, thanks to the arrivals of Elvis in texas, and Ian Stewart in Colo. This could be a nagging injury, why not get a real 3B, and let him DH when he comes back...

A-Rod to have surgery on his hip. Out 6-9 weeks. More like 4 or 6 weeks. Since it's still Spring training. And will have another surgery after the season. So he should be back late April early May.

What the hell is up with Arod doing a photo spread in details where he is staring at himself in the mirror? Shouldn't this guy be staying out of the spotlight for a while? He is just giving everyone more and more ammunition. I am not a Yankees fan, but respect the team. I can't stand Arod though.

it was probably shot months ago....before the steroid revelation. but still, it doesn't matter when it was shout. what a douche.

Actually these were all shot right after the steriod story came out. I believe the day after his Gammons interview but before his Yankee press conference. This dude is just a mental patient.

I actually think its a good thing he is out/gone til mid may. He's just too much. I think the team will get off to a better start and gel better at first without him

Looks like the lineup is set. I'm a big fan of Gardner winning the job. Reminds of a guy that would be on the teams of the 90's. One other thing...was reading Jeter is now leading off?? Not sure why...

Well it's not like Jeter doesn't have leadoff experience. In 448 games, he has batted .315 with 56 games and 215 RBI with a .389 OBP and an .859 OPS.

I gotta agree with ya on that. I've always seen Jeter as a perfect #2 hitter driving the ball between 1st and 2nd with a runner on 1st.

I was at the Stadium Friday Night....its fantastic!!! I was in the 200's by right field foul pole.A friend of mine sat in the right field bleachers, he called me to come to him to check something out. The bar in CF cuts off your view for long balls into left field and vice versa???? Its improved out there...with beer :D and easy access to bathrooms. They have flat screens on the wall of the bar(regular season they will be live action) during the exhibition they didnt do the job. Just a heads up for people considering sitting there......for me I'd only do it if it were a playoff game and I had no other options.

Other than that it obviously holds true to the old stadium with a bunch of cool additions, bring cash!! $10 a beer, get hammered before the games.

    GO YANKS!!
