Hughes is injured (and wasn't pitching well before the fact) and Kennedy was getting destroyed by opposing batters. And, good God, please don't put LaTroy Hawkins in relief anymore...it seems every time they put him in, he gives up runs.

Now that I stopped my rambling, I can't wait for the HR Derby tonight and the All-Star game tomorrow...I tried to get tickets, but they were MUY expensive...I just wish A-Rod was participating in the HR Derby...would be nice to see him getting cheered on in such an event, especially with all the turmoil surrounding him at the moment.

Meanwhile, Mets third baseman David Wright hosted a Vitamin Water party at Hudson Terrace, where Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Paul Rudd and Yankee pitcher Joba Chamberlain listened to a midnight performance by 50 Cent.

Across town, Shaquille O'Neal, who was recently spotted reuniting with his wife, Shaunie, was at the Getty Images and MLB All-Star bash at Tao, where "his mission was brunettes. He didn't like to do the legwork," said our spy. "Throughout the night, he requested specific brunettes to be brought over to him by the security guards."

A more subdued All-Star dinner at '21' drew Hank Aaron, Whitey Ford, Willie Mays, Wade Boggs and Lou Brock. Even Jordan, who stopped by before Jeter's bash, appeared "star-struck" when he walked in.
