I was afraid Matsui coming back would do more harm than good, a la 2006 Playoffs with Matsui and Sheffield. They need to lock Gardner in at CF, and let the Millionaires Club fight it out for themsleves. Damon, Matsui, Giambi. Let them split DH/1B. The best team they can put on the field has Abreu/Gardner/Nady in the OF

Damon's played CF long enough to catch those balls. He was under them. Just didn't catch them. Where is our offense?

true, but he's a liability out there. gardner is much better. I hope Girardi puts the best team out there on the field, and doesn't make the lineup based on salaries. Damon's the 3rd best CF on this team

Even though Damon's in a slump. He's still a better hitter than Gardner. But if we see more of this from Damon. Gardner will get more playing time.

  • agreed, I was just talking defensively. Let Damon DH, and Matsui pinch hit. He's been away a long time, there's no guarantee he'll hit right away. Or maybe Damon in left and Nady at 1B, if he could handle first base.

We are 11 games out of first! :( Eesh. It will be a battle for the wild card, 6 and 1/2 out there. Yipes!

I didn't see the game! I was at work! But I heard the beginning on the radio and it sounded like he got robbed at his first AB of a hit. He went 0 for 3 though.

He was running regular speed. It wasn't Manny like. He saw the ball roll further and decided to stretch it out. He slowed down when he got to 1st base. He stumbled it a bit turning. It looked like a should I or shouldn't I go for it type. I don't blame him for trying though.

I saw it after posting, it looked like he hesitated for a split second thinking it might go foul. I guess when the offense stinks, you have to take some chances.

Yea. I had a feeling he was gonna go for it. If the outfielder had gotten to the ball first. He would've made it. But you gotta give Overbay credit.

The yanks will either be done or the red sox are NOT gonna wanna be just 1 or 2 games ahead going into the last series of the season in Fenway. The seasons still going and the games still being played...aint nobody lock up shit yet. ;)

Well as usual the schedule makers have been kind, the Rays have 18 of their last 25 on the road. While the Sox finish with 20 of 29 at home.

The reason why the Yanks are done is that when they play the Red Sox and Rays coming up they have to sweep both series to make up any real ground. If they go 4-2 they only make up two games against either and barely put a dent in either's leads. And if anyone is confident the Yanks can sweep 6 games from either team with their pitching I have some real estate I'm selling. ;)

Sox fans are more worried about the Twins and White Sox than the Yanks right now. That's who I have been scoreboard watching the last week. Though it would be nice to out a stake through the heart of the Yanks' season and shutdown the Stadium.

hey i def hear ya joe..but you know how it goes..the yanks have a knack for these impossible things and based on the past few yrs the way teams have choked coming down the stretch and others taking advantage aka the Yanks, Phillies and Rockies...hey
anything can happen and if we DO sweep one of the series and go 2 and 1 against the other, we'll be straight
    We'll be ready :)

hey I know its gonna be tough but theyve given us plenty of reason to believe for the past 13 yrs. If we miss out, sure its gonna suck to go out like that in our last season at the Stadium..but here we are still hoping for that Yankee pride to kick in and turn things around

yeah it was a great defensive play, the slide to grab the ball and then up and the throw, if he didn't slide, he wouldn't have had a chance throwing Rodriguez out

so i guess if pavano can't make it to the mound, they could always trot out victor zambrano.... they also have eric milton somewhere, so if all hell broke loose with injuries, they could potentially have a rotation of pavano, milton, zambrano, rasner and ponson...

  • The forecast calls for a cool clear night, with no chance of cockroaches tonight. A nice Yankee win, coupled with the Sox getting trashed by the O's, 11-5 thru 6 innings and 4 Red Sox "pitchers". Looks like Clay Bucholz may have to fall back on his 2nd career choice, Laptop Thief

Yanks got to Purcey tonight, hope it's a good learning experience, I was encouraged with his last appearance, 6 IP 0 ER, but tonight he seemed flustered early.

Halladay on the mound for the rubber, I like our chances

I had the Sox fans in mind. You can never find them when Th e Sox lose, and if you couple it with a Yankee win, they're really in hiding. If the Yankees beat the Sox, especially at Fenway, they enter the Witnes Protection program. Ponson's gonna have to pitch the game of his life tomorrow. halladay's a beast. Do the guys in the bullpen bother to even show up when he pitches?

they're hating! :Dor perhaps even worried that we might get to like 3 games behind the wildcard by the time we face them ;)
